Wow, you have done a lot of work on that paperweight. A standalone isn't that expensive in the long run. Oh and are those N/A injectors??

Good choice. The Fuel system is crazy important.. There is a 6port turbo thread by 2.5imprezed (i think) where he outlines his builds, notice I said builds..lol He grenaded a few engine on overboost/underfuel IIRC..

Another fun project might be a Megasquirt system. You seem to have time on your hands and the drive to accomplish things, so a megasquirt might be an innexpensive way to control your fuel...

wow, i didn't know much about that, but i just read into it on there site, and thats starting to be a real possibility.

i have some questions though for anybody thats familiar with the system:

is this full standalone?
is it capable of handling as much as 650rwhp?(my eventual goal)
and how much would it cost? including all those sensors and gadgets required to make it run..

It's a Holset, comes stock on Cummins turbo Diesels and a few other industrial applications.

Looks to be either the Hx35 or the Hx40, not quite big enough to be the Hx50 or larger counterparts. Also the compressor side looks a bit too small to be an Hy35 or any Hy series Holset.

http://www.holset.co.uk/files/2_1_1_3-Holset%20HX35.php

Hx35 compressor map:

Hx50 and 55 are proven 1200cfm+ turbochargers, I attest to the 72mm variety.

Hx35 is affectionately referred to as the "King of Junkyard Turbos", and the output can reach much more than 280hp, that's just the rating for the 5.6-6.0L diesels.

Try googling "Holset Specifications" maybe you'll find something useful.

haha dont follow me yet, i'm not done.
the way that i bought the engine mechanically was doomed from the start, there is much to be done to fix that.
however, i would advise following me, but wait..

Oh, I built the motor in the GXL I'm buying. My old 90 GTU motor. I'm going to tear it down port the **** and start collecting turbo parts. I wouldn't mind rebuilding that motor anyway so when I replace all the seals, springs,, and gaskets I'm going to follow the Pineapple Racing "Large Street Port" template. I guess I get to eyeball my exhaust side though. Damn Pineapple Racing and not making templates for N/A exhaust porting.

i eyeballed everything.. lol
but i'm probably going to scrap that mid iron anyways, because i think i might want to do a bridgeport, and i messed it up already by streetporting it, if thats the case.

I would just finish building that motor enough to drive it for a while until you can afford the ECU and all the parts you need and then tear it back down and do you bridge.

ehh, the motor will probably blow up if i do that.. the turbo is way to big for the stock ecu.

besides, i have a friend who has all these listed mods on his TII block, and he is making 650rwhp.... TIIs have less port area than 6 ports... and he only had 1000cc injectors...

hmmmmm.....

Muaahahahahahaha

Just rig the wastegate flapper to remain open, as I think you were still using the stock wastegate actuator, which is a healthy 14lbs.

Get it running perfectly, buy the damn megasquirt, and then let me know so I can at least give you a base-tune. Then I can say that I tried to keep you from destroying the car.

I have also yet to see the .bin or dyno sheet for that car. Nor pictures at the very least.

Ricer.

i dont have a stock wastegate, i have a 44mm external wastegate, and you know that already.
and i'm having my friend who already has perticular experience with high compression rotors in a turbo bridgy. His car woops *** and he has no problems with it.

<edited for flaming>

I don't really care about the numbers, I just want to see that car's "perticular" .bin file.

I'm using a holset too!!! LOL Nice work I wish my engine looked clean like that... I went last minute and decided to paint my block when it was already assembled, I kinda messed up while painting, there was a bee, I kinda over reacted, my hand was still on the knozzle to spray, and made a big mess. Ironic cuz I painted my block black and yellow LOL
