almost every time i work on my car, this has to be used.

 

i really? i usually just use my snap-on 1/2" impact gun and a 54mm socket.....works every time.
now, the front bolt on the rew? i wish it were that freakin easy lol. 13b ya, but not rew LOL

Since getting my 7, I've found that there's only 3 small tool sets you'd ever need on the road. This setup is good for anything except for M10 or bigger bolts.

Original Mazda tire changing tool kit, with Project Kics wheel spacer tool.
Popular Mechanics PM6-38564 1/4" drive socket set with spinner handle, 4-13mm sockets and 6-12mm deepwell sockets
Harbor Freight 100 piece security screwdriver bit set (with 1/4" square drive to hex adapter)

Combine the spinner handle with the bits and you can do just about anything. And for the extra-stubborn screws that you need lots of downforce and torque to get loose (fuel pump flange), you can add the ratchet on top of the spinner handle. Popular Mechanics gets an A+ for good smart thinking.

Oh, can't forget the 'what-if' scenario:

+1 alot of people just cant seem to find that "tool"

 

Have all of it and then some, welder/other minor fab tools, engine assembly tools, die grinders/assortment of bits, paint guns etc...

 

I'll add spare 10mm and 12mm sockets and wrenches. And ratcheted handheld (non-socket) wrenches are way better. You should have a short phillips head in addition to the long one, and a mini phillips head for tiny screws. And vise grips (locking pliers) for when nothing else fits and/or you need a tool with a good grip to hammer on to get that bolt unstuck.

I mostly stick to maintenance so I made maintenance kits with every part and special tool I need. Especially since drain plugs and so on tend to be odd sizes that aren't in my normal wrench set. Basically I get a cardboard box for each XX miles, open up my haynes manual to scheduled maintenance, and toss everything I need into that box. After the job I replace whatever I used or else put it on my shopping list for the next time I go to the store. Saves a million trips back and forth.

 

Ducktape to fasten that which shouldn't be loose.
Hammer to loosen that which shouldn't be stuck.
