Just came home from vacation... Another hit and run.

That's right, my car has now had TWO hit and runs. The first was back in '08 I believe, I was rear ended. I fixed the damage from that. Fast forward to now, I went on vacation with my g/f for the New Year. had to leave my 7 behind due to some minor mechanical issues. (I was unsure if it would make the trip.) My mother drove it to and from work the whole time I was gone. The day before I came back, it was sitting in the local Sears parking lot when it was struck by another vehicle. The person fled the scene. The result was not pretty. (but at least I can still drive it.)

holy crap, what a bummer.
I had a crash in 2011 as well, although I did it to myself.
whats been done cant be undone, so the best thing to do is forget about it and hope better luck and karma will nourish you.
and that person who hit your car will get their karma, and if its your ma, hope she wont get karma.

Lol, mom didn't do anything wrong. She took very good care of the car. She parked it 3 spaces away from any other cars in the lot. It turns out these people just decided to park next to my car randomly. There was a witness who saw them try to pull out of their space. Allegedly, they ran into my car and pushed it about 17", then they backed up and drove off.

Edit: The rear end is tweaked too. The hatch doesn't close straight. It has to move about 1/8" to the right when the strikers go into the latches.

That's why I won't park anywhere near the front of the store. I actually choose the farthest parking spot in the lot in the daytime, and one right under a light and as close to a curb as possible at night. If you park really close to a curb, you have a much smaller chance of someone parking close to your car and hitting it with their door.

I specifically try to avoid going to Wal-Mart for that, plus the majority of people are ******** and won't put their damn carts away, and of course they always end up piling up at MY car.

It's unfortunate what happened to your car. The insurance company may try to total it with "frame" damage like that. They nearly totaled my convertible because of a rear end tap that resulted in damage to the bumper, tail light, bumper support, passenger muffler tip, and the trunk was pushed in a bit. Not the lid, the part that dips down a little inside, just sheet metal. I shmoozed the adjuster into bringing the cost of the repair down a little so it wouldn't total the car. I fixed it myself and had tons of money left over.

My DD van was hit twice by hit and run drivers in 2007; it really sucks. Somebody hit your car really hard though; that looks like a lot of damage for a parking lot fender-bender. It really sucks. I hope you and your insurance company can find the guilty party and get them to pay. Did your witness get a license plate number?

I don't have full coverage, so I'm not worried about it being considered "totaled." Any money will come from them or their insurance.

There were two women in the vehicle. My first hit and run was done by a woman too

Yeah they hit it pretty hard. It's extensive damage for how close they were to the car. They must've been hard on the gas pedal to get it pushed in and moved like that. I'm waiting to hear back from the officer who arrived at the scene. He hasn't finished the report yet (they say it could take a while.) I got a quote from a local body shop today, I'ma get a couple more tomorrow. The quote I got was $2080, not including an alignment. I went by the tire store to get a nail removed from a tire and have them rotated. They recommended an alignment and they want $72. I'm not sure if there is a license plate number or not... Still waiting to hear back on that.

At this point I'm just gathering info. It's hard to have a desire to repair anything on the car now knowing that it's basically worthless. I was gonna get a new radiator for it a little while ago but now I'm just not sure it's worth it.

Is that the front or back? The front fenders are cake to replace. The rear however is more difficult, but not impossible. My car had been backed into 3 times on the drivers side, twice in the front fender and 1 in the rear quarter panel in front of the wheel well. Of course, I replaced the fender between the 2 hits, so I had 2 bad fenders and a basketball sized dent in the rear. One of my friends worked at a body shop so I took it to him and he agreed to fix her back up for cost of materials and a couple cases of beer. He cut the 2 fenders in half and welded the good halves back together, and pulled most of the rear dent out with only minor welding needed to close 1 tear. I helped with a lot of the paint prep. She got repainted Montego Blue and looks as good as ever today.

Well, my brother was hit while he was heading in to work. Both parties had insurance, my brother had full coverage with state farm. Other guy had some crazy new jersey insurance. They drug their feet so much, he was without a vehicle to drive for over 2 weeks. He finally had enough and claimed uninsured driver with his own insurance. His own insurance company totaled his car. They're suing the other guy right now, and he's getting a NEW vehicle after state farm's done with those ********. Long story short, they CAN and WILL total your car, but with a good insurance company, they'll fight for your rights. He's getting taken care of quite well right now.

It's good to hear your brother is getting taken care of. I'm with State Farm but like I said, I don't have full coverage. I'm not sure what is going to happen yet but I hope I can get in touch with the people who did this so I can get things taken care of properly. As far as I know, the police report is still being processed so I haven't had any chances to look at it. I can't wait to see what it says.

I took some more pictures of the car today with a better camera.

I know, I was totally amazed. I'm glad it didn't though... That would've been such a pain in the *** getting another on there. (I have a friend that has one, but getting it from him would be another story...)

Yeah, if it get's fixed it's going to get fixed properly. Somebody recommended bondo... I laughed so hard. I might get a panel from the junkyard, but waiting for an RX-7 to come through one of the junk yards around here is like waiting for hell to freeze over.

Sorry 'bout the double post.
