Intake pictures

Hello,
I am pretty good at hand polishing and I want to polish my intake on my S5 rotary motor. I wanted to see if any body had pictures of the intakes that were polished or painted. I just want to get some ideas.

You're better off outsourcing it, I speak from experience.

The valleys, and nooks and and hard to reach crevices will make the project grow incredibly troublesome very quickly. If I could do it again, I would just take it to a professional polisher, they can do it faster, and more effectively than you could with all your tools and DIY knowledge. Plus I make more money per hour than they'd charge.




These aren't a mirror shine yet, but you get the idea - plus this is exactly what you'll have to go through. Sanding all the 'metalcast' off.

im in the painting catagory

polish is nice but you will be a slave to the polishing, especially if you daily the car and or it sits outside.

it does not look the same.

I know some guys on here polish things themselves and think it looks good, but when you get parts back from a pro they are awesome looking, clear distorts that.
The parts are so awesome looking that in a week they lose that awesome and need to be touched up, every single time I wash my car I hit my intercooler pipes with a little polish then thank god for not driving myself crazy with more polished ****, especially a intake that is hard to reach it all.

they make a coating, it's called zoop. though you're right - any car that gets daily driven will see use and abuse.

my water pump housing is coated, it does not bling anywhere near polished does, but its a maintenance free alternative
