The "If you had to get rid of your FC" thread.

The "If you had to get rid of your FC" thread.

I was cruisin' through "Google Images" and came across a thread just like this in the FD section.

Basically, If you had to get rid of your FC, what(reasonable) car would you replace it with?

By "reasonable" I mean no Buggattis, lambos etc.

I'm gonna start with a few cars I'd replace my bitch with.

Number 1! MX/JZX-83

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/-kevin/8759960429/" title="Danny (MX83) by Kevin Ƭ, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3671/8759960429_ce8d6a46df_c.jpg" width="800" height="533" alt="Danny (MX83)"></a>

Number 2! IS-300(the rest are not in order)

E46(not M though :/ hahaha)

FC becomes like a pet, you cant get rid of it. Especially once it qualifies for classic insurance.

Few times I look at my car sitting and think Ill sell it- but I wont.
THe best thing I did years ago was get rid of 2 of my FCs and started driving a nicer daily that I could have fun with all the time

I don't want to get rid of my FC hahaha

I'm saying if you HAD to. As in, some bullshit law that labels Rotary powered cars illegal or something like that.

240Z for sure.
It's the car I had before the FC and it's the one I'd go back to.

Im trying to do this now, but selling my parts has been hard, local fc guys in socal don't seem to have money $$$ for good parts =(

Just tired of my fc being down and not having the money up front to rebuild it. Selling it and my truck to put into another car just looks more appealing to me now. I can always get an rx7 later down the line when I can financially keep 2 cars.

I currently have 3 choices
1970-1973 datsun 240z

I already bought a G nose for it that i scored on craigslist (couldn't pass that up)

and the correct fender mirrors

I got the mirrors prepped to powder coat satin black

Why: Smog exempt in california. The Zs where one of my favorite cars when I was a kid. Cops can't touch it imo.
As far as styling goes, fender flares, rear spoilers are plentiful in the US, and i acquired the hard parts already (though the headlight lens would be really hard to get if i cant fabricate them).
But as my current living condition I would only be able to afford one car, i think a car of this age may be more open to risk of theft as of how simple older cars are. The 240sx scene is crazy popular with thieves because of the drift scene. Z community is alot more mature though. I didn't worry as much about theft with my rx7 as the 7 community is alot smaller but you never know really. I would like to hold onto the parts i got in case I don't go that route, but if i have to sell the parts for money, i will.

Z32 300zx Twin Turbo.

Why: Another childhood favorite of mine. Bang for the buck this is hard to beat, considering how cheap they go for now. 400hp isn't that hard to obtain on stock turbos. Underdrive pulleys are listed to gain as much as 20-30hp alone. Better creature comfort over the 240z. of course there is smog checks to deal with, but a 400hp engine bay can still look fairly stock and fly under the radar with cops.

But i honestly wouldn't mind leaving it near stock just to daily drive with no hassles. Of course alot of guys are turned off about the cramped engine bay. An NA model wouldn't be a bad daily driver either, just not fast at all.

A wire tuck job looks amazing in this

And my 3rd choice
97-01 Infiniti Q45
These things are cheap now, typically under 5k

A bit old as far as luxury cars go, but still modern and comfortable. Would be a great daily driver, aftermarket potential. Take it out on weekends going out to clubs etc.

With my 3 selections, They all have a pretty strong aftermarket behind them and alot of potential. I can't imagine getting borred with either one, besides maybe the Q45 not performing as good as the others. With the Zs, you join a big community of Z owners. I think their community is a bit larger than the 7 community. I tried the euro scene before, but there just isn't a fun customization aftermarket to them like japanese cars go https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n..._1531766_n.jpg .

Seeing as my FC is going to be a track car... eventually, I'd go for a Honda S800 vert, lotus/caterham 7 or an FB all three choices would be powered by an N/A 13b cause I'm a rotard ..if this double posts, then sorry!

I've already had a starquest. Glad to see some one posted a picture of one! While they are fun, a t2 is way better. Feels like you are hugging the road more and is faster. Then again, maybe my perception is skew'd due to it leaking out every gasket possible. I did like how it would whip 180's on the street to turn around like a champ.

Replacement? None. FC is my dream car. If some magical force made me have to do a trade, I'd probably get a SA. If that same magical force said to get a piston powered vehicle, it would be an older datsun or a 240 with the pop ups. **** the newer 300. It looks nice, but who wants to work on a crammed V6?!

Definitely would go for a Z or S-chassis. S30, S14 kouki, S13 hatch. Possibly a Miata too.

Or FD, but that's not really reasonable :P
