Red face History of your FC

Ever get curious and wonde rjust what your FC has done all of it's life?

I did some digging around and saw that my car was manufactured and delivered to the dealer on March 16, 1989. It was then purchased on September 28, 1989 at a dealership just two towns over from me. It's first history report was done on October 28, 1997, the odometer had read 97,000 and it was testing it's emissions. Passed!

The car was then donated to charity on August 6th, 1998 and had no more history until it was re titled again on May 5th, 2010. In August of the same year it failed emissions twice, then finally in October it passed emissions again and was back on the road. The current owner at this point used the car solely on the weekends and let it sit in a field for months on end. At that point he began searching for a new owner for the car and someone who would take care of it.

Skip ahead to 3/31 of this year and I am that person to give the car a new home for $2100, about $23,000 less than what the car was purchased for back in 1989.

Anyone else know about the histories of their car?

dear god, i'd rather not know hahaha

i'd seriously probably throw up.

the only history i know, is that it was crashed, it got a spray-paint black paint job, and that it was frequently drifted for years :/

bought locally by a woman.
I had a shop across from a printer, I used to detail his car. I also sold window tint, we tinted his sisters car ( the RX7 )

few years later her son gets it when she passes away from cancer, he beats it up a bit and hits a curb. Buys new rims and tires for it. Few months later he blows rear tire because it is totally worn out on the inside from bad alignment. Body shop tells him bent frame and it would be $5000 to fix or something stupid like that. This is around the year 1995. Print shop owner asks me if I want to buy his nephew's car, tells me the kid is going into rehab, I tell him I will take figuring Ill have one of my contacts put it on a frame machine for me and I would use it as a daily driver ( I was driving a 1985 RX7 GS at the time )
When I get the car it turns out to be a bent lateral link, I change it, align the car and it has been with me ever since. I have the paperwork from when the car was sold and originally dealer serviced.

Plenty of other FCs have passed through my hands since then ( I think 7 but I would have to sit down and figure it out because I used to buy them "not running" , get them started and sell them.

my last one, a blue 1987 GXL, i bought from the original owner, they had the window sticker ($22,080 if i recall), and they drove it until they bought something dumb to replace it with (mitsubishi mirage? maybe, something DSM and stupid) and it was their "extra" car, so it literally sat in the driveway for 12years.

i got (@73k miles!) it put round tires on it, drove it for 3 years, sold it to a kid who has AE86 friends for roomates so he crashed it and donated it....

the current vert i don't really know, my friend bought it with a blow engine, and no paint (its white, it fell off), painted it, put a motor in it, and then i got it for putting an engine in his BMW... its a nice car!

My vert came from an auction of some kind (police auction?) and ended up with these guys that had an automotive shop in the same complex as my family's machine shop. I ended up buying it as my first car in 2001, and then my dad followed suit and bought a TII they had a few months later (RX-7 envy). Both cars would have likely ended up with iron block V8s if they stayed with the previous owners. They specialized in building "monster miatas", and the 7s were next. They were a bunch of hacks, and the shop disappeared within a year.

I wish I had more information on mine, though it did come with some documentation. I think that kind of stuff is cool.

Mine was built in August 1988 and delivered to Mark Kennedy Mazda on 1700 Mason Avenue in Daytona Beach, FL. From what I can tell, they closed years ago, though there is a new Mazda dealer in Daytona. The original owner wrote his name in the Owner's Manual, so I have that too. The car was purchased on October 30, 1988. Pretty late in the year to be buying a new '88 car. Original owner did not put many miles on the car. Per CarFax, it had just 14,171 in October 2002. However at some point, the first owner had some paintwork done. Both doors have been repainted as has the passenger side rear fender. The rest is original, though the first owner also removed the "Mazda" and "GTU" decals.

The second owner bought the car from Boniface Infiniti in Melbourne, Florida on October 3, 2004 with 21,898 miles. At the time, he and his wife were in the market for an RX-8 but saw this car on a nearby used car lot. They had previously owned an FB. The second owners moved to Washington, D.C. sometime in late 2004 or early 2005. In 2007, his job was transferred to New York City, so they decided to sell the car since he'd have no place to keep it.

I bought it on February 24, 2007 with 27,881 miles on it. I have since put another 22,000 miles on it. It's my second car, so it isn't driven in snow or much rain, but I do prefer to enjoy it rather than just preserve it.

I tried writing a letter and an email to the original owners to see if they had any more history on the car, such as why they had paintwork done. I never got a reply.
