The haters are getting to me
So most of the people I work for/with love to talk smack on my rot, and most of them are muscle car fans. I drive an 88, so that shows a little respect for the classics I guess, but how can I convince them that power-to-weight ratio is more than my opinion, but actual science. Or should I hold my breath? P.S. I have had fc-v8 plans since I blew up my tii in,'08, but I would never tell any of them that.
If my fc was fwd I'd drive in reverse

Yeah man I wouldn't worry about it. These cars are frowned upon by sooo many people it just goes with the territory. We're the black sheep of the car world, and hell, the world for that matter. just enjoy that you enjoy the car yourself and be glad the rest of us here (hopefully) know the feeling haha

I hear you man. I get flack almost daily from my friends and roomates about my RX-7, rotary jokes, gas mileage, when am I replacing my apex seals... Simple matter is my car has been reliable and most of there piston powered cars not so much.

Don't care about those people, or put everything you got on a (2 or) 3 rotors/big turbo set-up. You gotta prove them wrong or show them you don't care!
There is a mustang guy at my job who used to tell me that rotary engines were crap and that I would blow it sooner than latter. That guy has put more that 30 000$ on his engine, he was drag racing and since I know him he has toasted his engine 3 times. Wow! Now I tell him that replacing a rotary engine cost 3000$ not 10 000$ like his crappy V8 engine, and that I could toast mine 10 times before it actually cost me less than it costed him. We don't argue about that anymore! He even sold his car for less than a normal mustang was worth because the engine blew again.
I won't sell my RX-7, it cost so much less than what it gives me as satisfaction.
If I tell you that your favorite color is a ****** color would you cry alone about it, or tell me to shut up and be a man?

That truth is, the 13B is a tiny 1.3 liter inneficient motor in comparison to piston motors today. Gas mileage sucks, it is often smelly, and yes the apex seals are high maintenance. The sooner you accept that the more you'll enjoy the car when everything works as it should and forget about the haters.

I guess I am lucky that my co-workers are rather fascinated by my car.
If i did get any ****, I'd tell them they didn't know *** from their face and to **** off with their ignorance.

Inneficient in the fact that we require 30% more air and fuel to make the same rwhp of a piston engine. That's not to say that the 13B can't make a TON of power, but it takes a LOT more fuel to do it, thus it is inneficient and for the same reason we have poor gas mileage. I've yet to see a daily driven 1000 rwhp rotary, there are plenty of piston motors that can make that claim though...and some.
EDIT: Our high EGT's are a good indication of wasted fuel. Think of the flame front in a rotary chamber vs a cylinder... it's much easier for a flame front to drive a piston downard versus push a rotor.

i've yet seen many haters on a nice, clean, tastefully done FR car so take that how you will.
if it's primered 3 different colors, has mismatched wheels and isn't as fast as you think it is- you will probably find all sorts of haters.
considering if you put that 700whp turbo into a boinger and can make nearly 1000whp from it, yes these engines are inefficient. the turbo tells the tale of efficiency because all of that moving air is lost to the efficiency of the engine and how much of that air is just doing circles continually in the engine due to CC leakage and overlap.
the good of this is if you can build a rotary to 700whp you should be able to build a boinger to 1000whp with even more ease. we build these cars because we are cutters and enjoy pain.
IMO the future would be nice to have modular rotary engines that we could stack up additional rotors, add displacement and run these egines n/a. you would have better torque curves, response and reliability.
at the dyno guys scratch their heads and ask why a GT35R can only make just over 500whp in a rotary when in their cars they can pull out over 700 from the same turbo.
