Get a TII or N/A

I got a S5 N/A, automatic.

I've herd that the manual swap never ends up that great, is a pain in the *** and costly.

I'm going to have about $2,500.

I only like S5's.

I've found a few TII's in ok condition for that, plenty of N/A's

My plan is to get a new S5 and swap the good parts from my FC, as my interior is near perfect I could find a new S5 with **** interior whatever nasty color and just swap my dash n such, yeah? Good idea?

you could do a tII swap for that amount. Ive had friends who did automatic to 5speed swaps in thier 240sx, given it wasnt 100percent like a 5speed, they still had automatic gas and brake pedals *cut down* and added a clutch.. If they would have swapped the pedals, it would be dead on.

5speed swapped cars, simple conversions, people dont bother wiring up the reverse lights or the clutch disable start button..

in your case though, just sell it and get one thats already 5speed etc.. Dont butcher that car if its already nice, someone else might be able to enjoy a NA automatic lol

I think the bodys also bent, a 5speed conversion isn't A to B in a FC if I recall it requires a cross member and welding, not my area of expertise. I'd butcher it and sell it for 500 because it has some minor body damage already, bad paint. I'd just throw in my new cars interior and keep my sexy black <3

When the car was pretty new my g'ma hit a pole that held this thing over there driveway, it was cemented in, it broke out the pole... the passenger door doesn't close easy, my dad also pointed out a slight ripple between the windshield and the right strut tower... I believe that means it's bent.

To be honest, I haven't done the Autotragic > Manual swap yet. My secondary FC is autocraptic at the mo' and currently awaiting a clutch and a piece of steel for me to begin the swap process...but it isn't that hard from what I have read.

Probably the most difficult thing to do is swapping the pedal box. Welding? You don't need to weld a damn thing if you don't *want* to. You can just drill through the steel (Or iron if you so choose) to make the adapter plate. It will bridge the gap between the automatic crossmember (Which will be bolted to the chassis as normal) and the transmission where the crossmember should be bolted. That's all. There's no magic involved in it...it's just a piece of steel to keep the ***-end of the tranny level. Now, some people tac weld in logical places to strengthen the whole unit...like the plate to the crossmember. But it's not absolutely necessary.

Though having seen some of your thread posting handiwork, I'm going to agree with Hypertek and tell you that you would probably be better off finding a car that is already a manual car. And another suggestion I am going to give you is this: Buy an N/A. You don't need the headache of a Turbo until you know more about these cars and are confident and knowledgeable enough to work on them.

My cars had an automatic to manual conversion since I've had it, driven the **** out of it for 40k now with a simple adapter plate connecting the two crossmembers. Could probably use more support to be perfect but eh, I haven't had any problems.

I'd go through with it if the engine had good compression but I dunno I haven't given it much thought since I don't have the proper workplace for an engine swap. Ended up boosting my GXL.

Well I've decided I'm just going to pay someone to do the manual swap. I'm pretty sure I could do it, might take alittle trial and error, where im currently located theres no way I can do it. So I'm going to have a shop do it since I'm a n00b at stickshift anyways, I'd like to know its working properly.

yeah sure I post nooby threads, never hurts to ask first. I'm bout to tear the UIM off right now, I'm not gonna ask any questions (Unless I run into a prob :P)

.....the swap is really not that bad- I did it to mine and man do I love it! and it wasnt that costly, someone is always parting out a fc on here...drive to a welding shop with the design of what you need to get welded, get all the parts from the for sale section and call it a morning- install the parts and call it an afternoon- tow it to the welding shop and have them weld it and call it a day! BUT

if you gonna do a t2 swap- get the right parts the first time!
