Hey guys-

Recently purchased an 87 sport, however, it has NONE of the aero pieces aside from the duck bill spoiler. I have an underbelly pan on my 88 SE from a sport model that I found in a junkyard, and am thinking of having them remade via a CNC waterjet. I'm talking about the OEM, aero metal pan that bolts to the engine subframe, not the plastic one between the front bumper & oil pan. With this, and the aero pieces, the drag coefficient was lowered from .31 to .29.

Not sure on prices yet, but it should be/I'd like it to be reasonable. If these were ~$60 each, shipped, how many of you would be interested in one?

I'd bite on that price. Not something I need per se, but I always thought it was a neat piece. If I recall correctly, even S5s should have mounting points for it.

If there would be an advantage to having aluminum over the OEM plastic then I would absolutely buy one.

It's a different piece than the plastic one. This one goes behind the plastic one. Ends basically right at the trans.

You were damn lucky to find one at a junk yard in the first place. So glad you're looking for a way to spread that wealth.

Related, I'd have little interest in an aluminum front pan. The weight of the plastic one is just fine, and I've had more than a couple of the FB metal versions break where at mount points at the frame on my GSLSE. Besides, the plastic ones are very junk yard available competition to demand for the plastic one whereas the secondary pan certainly isn't.

Do it. I would drive from jacksonville and give you cash in hand. I am not to sure how a AL front pan would work. In dealing with mine, I found that the fact that it can flex is good to install it. maybe Carbon Fiber that has been made to flex more. I know that you can change the flexibly if you vary the amount of resin.

I wish I had known this was considered a desirable piece. I had one on my 88 GTU and I just threw it away because at the time I was tired of taking it off every time I needed to service something. Maybe I should have kept it.

Interested in the rear pan. I am unfamiliar with the piece, so I'm just going by the picture. Will yours include beading? I talking about the grooves pressed in to the sheetmetal to make it stronger.
