gas

gas here in ohio for regular just dropped to $3.84 and super is $4.04. which is a lot better from regular being 4 dollars.. but still i can't drive my Rx7 like i use to because it's way too expensive. And this thing about Americans having it easy.. riiight.. our dollar is probably worth more then your dollar. There is no reason for gas prices to jump up this fast. gas prices are insane.. and even worse then me, my friend has a 300zx which has to take premium and he only gets 14 mpg. And around here it's hard to find a job that makes even 8 dollars an hour, as a college student.

actually pounds are worth about $2 now i think. However, he is wrong about gas being that much more expensive there, because a dollar for us is the same as a quid for them, whether it would cost us more to get their gas, than it would for them to buy our gas is irrelevent. $4 in our country still has roughly the same worth as 4 pounds in the U.K.

Quote me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure that gas prices are still cheaper in the U.S. than in Europe. I'm pretty sure that they sell the gas by liter not by the gallon. There's about 4 liters per gallon, so figure the odds?!. When i was in iceland it was bout 3 something per little 3 years ago...

I run 93 in mine dont want to take any chances of that one boost creep that kills my engine like my last engine. It's like $3.89 for 87 and $4.19 for 93 my cars get the best gas i can buy none of that cheap crap. Even my Cavailer gets Sunoco 87.

Sunoco used to have 93 and 94 a couple years ago but times made Sunoco gay and only sell 93. Gas prices need to go down everywhere and everyone needs a Rx7 to help burn more. We need to start a group buy on gas.

I wonder how the gas prices are going to affect NHRA for this year. I don't think that many racers are going to go this year... by next year gas prices are expected to go as high as $10 here in the U.S.

what's going to happen then? any comments?

Ok the only way to settle this is if we earn the same in UK £ as you guys earn in $.

The average yearly wage in the UK is £23,000 before tax which means we get around £16,000.

So if you guys in the USA earn an average of about $20,000 pa then we can say our ridiculously over priced fuel is fair. Over to you

Well the pound is worth more than the dollar, the exchange rate is for every U$D is about $0.51 British pounds. So as you say if we earned $20,000 we would be making around $10,126 GBP without taxes so after taxes we would be making somewere around $8,000 so gas prices are a little high around here... So $23,000 GBP are about $45,000 U$D and that is not the average salary in the US...

We don't need to settle this all we need to do is to convert your salary to either USD or to GBP and take it from there... gas prices are still expensive no matter how you put it...

just checked a website and the cheapest regular around me is $4.17 i just bought my fc and i wanna start adding power but these gas prices have changed my mind and now im just gonna keep it stock... its also the reason why i've decided not to go to the SF meet tomorrow i mean its just ****** crazy.. i really want to start a strike or something where i get people around my area to just stop buying gas and it would hopefully spread.. but i think this is impossible to do... btw you guys hear that the oil prices dropped this week and the gas prices rose? wtf is up with that damn ************* are robbing us.. pisses me off....

Yep i don't know what's going on with these oil prices... but it is crazy... There should have been an oil alternative years ago, and now we are starting to have this problems. All this problems could actually be traced back to Nixon and Reagan... but the blame of all is Bush, his bullshit war on Iraq and terrible foreign policy...

The problem is the media and the politicians using scare tactics on the ignorant and gullible public.

Um, what problems?

But I thought the Iraq war was all about oil? So either it was a lie that the war was all about oil, or it was a lie that the current price of oil has something to do with the Iraq war. So which is it?

UK 2007 est GDP per capita = $35,300
US 2007 est GDP per capita = $46,000

UK gas price = 115ppl = $2.28/0.264172gal = $8.6/gal

8.6/35,300 = 0.00024
0.00024*46,000 = 11.04

Therefore, gas in the US needs to hit $11.04/gal to equal the price of gas in the UK relative to average individual wealth.

No, gas prices are NOT expensive. Even lower class citizens in most Western nations can afford to drive.
