stupid question time... can I run 87 in my s5 turbo safely? I thought any turbo car needed higher octane fuel.

On a stock FC engine, you are throwing away money if you run anything but 87 octane.

Not here. Most often we have 87-89 octane regular, 91 octane mid grade & 93-94 premum there are also a few places around here that also carry 100 octane.

If 91 octane is the highest rating in your region, such as the case in the post that I responded to, then 91 = premium.

True, but the UK is much smaller then the US. They don't have to drive nearly as far.

In my area only sunoco has 91 octane since they did away with 94 octane... but then again is only in my area and there really aren't that many sunoco stations around... i spend around $150 a month on my 7 on gas alone... i try not to drive it hard but sometimes i can't help it...

Iran ($0.33 Gal) and Venezuela ($0.17 Gal) are the cheapes countries in the world the U.S. ranks 42 or something.... but the way gas prices are going are crazy... it is expected to go to around $7 dollars here in the U.S. by next year... I hope not...

Wait wait wait. I was under the impression that with a turbo motor, it was necessary to run premium gas. Call me ignorant, but this is just what I've heard/read.

If that's untrue please tell me!

With stock boost on a Turbo, you should be running 87 octane. The factory designed the Turbos (and all FC's) to run on 86 octane in North America.

Seattle - Regular $4.07, Premium $4.21, I use either or. But i fill up every 2 weeks, I think its expensive because if you were like me and was use to .98 cents a gallon for premium just before 911. But then again EVERYTHING has a price hike now days, god forbid what the price would be like for food in 3 years with the food shortage and countries pulling out of the food export market. I had to pay $60 for a bag of rice last week.

This I would like to know as well. Everyone keeps telling me different things. I originally thought 87 across the board for FC's but then some guy was like "dude you'll blow up ur engine, run 91+ on your turbo. You need it cuz you will be boosting." So on stock boost on S5 TII, what should I be running?

What if you have an open exhaust (Racing Beat catless) and you have an 88 T2, would that jump in stock boost require you to run a higher octane, or is 87 still satisfactory?

if you just have exhaust thats pretty stock, as long as you dont have internal work running regular should be good dude.

These gas prices kind of make me want to get another integra, $35 to fill it and last ~300miles a tank is just to good...
