Flat Black Paint

Ok, I want to paint my RX7, nothing fancy, just a flat black from a rattle can, any tips?
Primer? Brands? Links to other threads or users who have done it?

If you pick up the latest issue of Modified Magazine Oct 09 I believe, there's an article where one of the tuners actually rattle-cans his entire integra, the results were pretty impressive. They might even be on the website.

p.s. it also doubles as a write-up, not just a "look at this" article

I've heard of several people having great turn-outs using duplicolor paint and a roller.

No joke. Roll the paint on. You'll be amazed.

flat black on a modern car is never cool.. just looks poor. unless its something old like a 1920's hot rod

if you must, go semi black krylon.

To be a little more specific, I am going for something like this...

How would I get something anywhere close to this... and can it be done with a rattle can?

I'll look into the vinyl, but really I'm looking to do something on the cheap cheap, like less than $200... I dont care so much if it comes out great or fantastic, cuz its a track day car not a DD... plus I got alot of younger cousins who I can get to do the hand sanding for free.

Take the hood off and set it up against something so you're straight on with it. That way you don't have to lean over it and get shitty spray strokes, i've done it to one of my sevens back in the day and the only thing that turned out shitty was the hood. It was a 86 base with dial wheels, i spray bombed the whole thing including the wheels, and it turned out ****, just make sure you sand her down nice and good, and spray away.

I just painted my '87 Sport with the walmart cans, think it was like $.84 a can or something of the sort. I think we ended up dumping about 12 cans worth into it. It looks like ***, but it's about 2000x better than what it used to be. I'll try to get a few pictures when the sun comes out if it's not raining, the ones I took with my phone came out pretty terribad.

thats because the .84$ cans are mostly compressed air. buy the 5$ rustoleum cans and do the whole car with 4 cans and have it look good.

a car created in 1985 is not a modern car.
