I sold my first car that I purchased almost 14 years ago, it was a 1987 GXL that I miss to this day. I was 18/19 years old and it was my only car and it was just a terrible combination of not having a career therefore not having money to keep maintaining it to keep driving on the road so I had no choice but to sell it. Fast forward to this past weekend and I was able to purchase this 1991 GTU thanks to a coworker who jokingly asked me if I wanted to buy a FC. ::sigh:: Called my wife and said hey, not sure if this post is a scam or not but I think I’m going to send an email to see. Needless to say, it wasn’t lol I now have a garage to put this thing how I want to. So stay tuned, as an adult with a garage but more importantly with a career 😆 I think I’ll get to do it the right way this time. Glad to be back in the forum!!
My guy I'm happy for you! I've been in the same situation, purchased a mint 1990 Turbo II with 60k miles at 16 just by luck, asked this older guy if he has thought of selling it, and he actually though it was a good idea and sold it for $5,300 and after the purchase I was not financially stable enough to keep up with it and its fuel hungry ***. Ended up selling it with a profit at 17. Worst decision I have ever made. I still cry about it sometimes.
Looks like a good buy on that S5! Yeah I've sold a few cars over the years that I've regretted selling. My all original one owner 91 Toyota MR2, my 94 Corvette, and my very first 10th Anniversary RX-7. I have replacements for each but they're not the same and I miss those three cars the most.
Yep. My first car was a '79 Rx-7. Had it three years and after getting out of vocational school and getting a full-time job I got new car fever and traded it in on a brand new '94 civic. About six months later when the new wore off I regretted it and started missing my Rx-7. Finally, after being in that civic for 1&1/2 years I traded into my '89 Rx-7 GTUs I still have now. There have been times over the years I have thought of selling it but knew I'd end up regretting it and never did.
Definitely had sellers remorse selling my gtus. Longest owned rx7 I had. Went through 3 engines, a handful of turbo configurations and it was my daily for the longest. I miss it.
It's hard to say that I have sellers remorse because I am very content with where I have ended up. My current fleet is:
1983 limited edition
1988 10th anniversary edition
1989 GTUs
1990 Infini
1991 turbo II
And 2/3 saved up to buy a CYM in todays market!
However there are a few of them that have gotten away over the years I do regret letting go such as this 8/95 montego blue fd i sold for $1,000 around 2012.
Or this 1993 montego blue rhd i sold for $2,000 in 2014. I sold that ultra rare bn sports blister kit for 1k as well. Let's just say when I'm done I'm done 😆
There were a few FC's I kinda wish I had held onto. Mostly because they were so low mile and unmolested. Todays prices are crazy and I'm sure I'll never get back anything like it for the 1k I sold it for. Sold this 1987 no engine or trans for 1k
I would have held onto this 91 brilliant black, i sold it with a new turbo motor to a friend for 500$! But 2012 was a different time lol.
I traded this fc for a Subaru and regretted that instantly. I put a new engine in the fc then traded. The wife had to suby after her red t2 died and that na was not appeasing
There are a couple first gens i miss as well. I wish i had not sold my 1978 rhd savanna. It was a 3/78 turbo model. I gave it away... no engine or trans but free to a friend. He sold it sadly. It had a 13bRE I pulled and gave to another friend to keep his fb rotary! 🙃
