Does your town's police force pick on fc's ?

I've owned my fc for 6 months now and I haven't had any trouble with the police. Until today I went to the bank after getting off work and had to deposit a check. Usually I'd turn off the car, but since it had just been running a few minutes I left it on; I came out to see an obese police office drenched in sweat say he heard my car from his office. The police station is across a busy road and I could barely hear it in the bank. Now, this plus the fact that coal trucks drive up and down the main street all the time; I'm overwhelmed with confusion when he says they have a very strict noise ordiance. I went to work at 6am and had semi-trucks rattling the walls all morning. As he says this a semi drives by and I say, "What about that guy and the rest of the semi drivers that are ******** and drive through the middle of town in the morning?" He just tells me not to come back into town with my peice of junk; At this time the fc, which was holding a steady idle backfired twice as he walked back around it. I almost told him that it isn't a peice of junk just because he can't fit in it. Yeah, playground burn I know. haha.
Anyways, do cops in your town do stupid stuff just for false satisfaction from pretending to do something that matters?

Turn your car off when you get out of it?

Number one rule of owning a fc is not to turn it off unless you've warmed it up.
Thought I mentioned that actually; that I didn't want to flood it.
Low compression on top of that.. Sort of makes for a hell of a time.

Number one rule of FCs is fix your leaking injectors so that doesn't happen.

Cops here don't give my car any flack, and I'd almost guarantee it's dramatically louder than yours. That fact that's it's also very clean may help quite a bit though.

I had RB true duals with no cats at all on my '91 coupe along with an open intake.

Never got messed with at all, but like digitalsolo, I kept it looking clean and almost-stock...and it ran near perfectly, so there was no hiccups, backfires or anything like that. Just the pig-rich odor of me getting about 10 mpg around town.

My car is stock except my 800 dollar exhaust; it has a leak that I'll fix here soon.
So if by clean you mean doesn't look like a Fast and Furious car; mine is very clean. I don't know why people put bodykits on something as breathtaking as a S5.

your car looks normal enough, its either too loud ( there are actually laws against this )

or maybe the cop did not like you for some reason?

The only thing they have a fit about around here is a lack of a front plate. But other than that, no problems. And that includes when I was running a straight-piped NA with an exhaust leak.

It sounds like the cop is full of himself, but there isn't much he can do. Unless the guy wants to bring something to measure the dB of your exhaust, the noise ordinance is pretty much not enforceable.

+1 for the lack of front plate, but that's just when I drive/park in Los Angeles.

Like anyone else in any other profession, you can have great police officers that you would love to hang out with, and real douchebags who get off on their own inflated sense of self importance. Guess which one you spoke to?

Most communities have anti-idling laws, so it is highly likely you were breaking the law. Everywhere certainly has a law against leaving a vehicle running with no occupant, so that's another issue as well.

But no, I don't have an issue with the police. I drive by the police station on the way to work every day and am often at the intersection surrounded by police cars. I get a few looks now and again (bridgeports will do that) but no one seems to care.

when i drive my fc, i never get complaints and cops never look my direction. my car is very low, very wide, and very loud.

the bright red roll cage, giant looking wheels and blister fenders dont help my case but still. not even a glance.

sounds like you come from a part of california like mine

every piece of bacon around here is on the same power trip just looking for the very hint of a out-of-the-ordinary car to unleash there "justice" on

heres some of the tickets me and my buddis have got

1-multiple no front liscence plate tickets
2-tint tickets (mine was the lightest amount of tint you could put on)
3-multiple speeding tickets from going the same speed as everyone else
4-buddy with evo gets pulled over for having an "aftermarket wing"
5-$300 exhaust non- fixit ticket
6-unsafe lane change (no blinker WTF??)

yeah thats what you get in a town with 5 times the amount of neccessary cops

i have been pulled over for spinning through 1st 2nd and and a bit of 3rd gear out of a light one morning.. the sheriff let me go...i told him some asshat was road ragin on me so i just left him in the dust in an overly flashy way and apologized... my car is fully kitted with a corksport exhaust the biggest wing on any car in town (62inches)and spits flames and backfires all day. Im pretty sure most of the cops know my car here but they never get to see me doing evil. Im quite surprised by the lack of harassment.. Pick-up trucks are the most annoying unruly harassing SOBs EVER though. i almost want to buy a gun but i know its illegal to shoot at people(in trucks)

post a pic of your rx7 . lol
If you look like your up to no good/ car that looks like it has no potential, then you would get picked on. These cars are old so they are starting to stand out.
