Couple engine shots (yes it had hose clamps on those pipes when I ran the engine )

EDIT: OH you can see the leaky fuel line in the first picture.

Its the one that runs to the secondary rail, along the UIM/TB, down to the drivers side of the engine. Its leaking right smack in the middle of it, spraying all over the TB - WTF earls???????

Yepper, 6" long K&N.

Fits nicely under the piping...ideally I'd like to route it out to the inner fender....someday.

Had that happen once with a braided-steel/teflon brake line, at a race weekend. Sunday morning check revealed a stream of brake fluid coming out of a pin hole in the middle of the line - never found an explanation for it.

LOL thats odd Jo, especially on brake line!

I couldn't figure this one out either, just replaced the section, all is well now.

But hey - you know how you told me to check WOT and make sure the TB was actually opening all the way? Missing horsepower etc etc.......well turns out, its not opening all the way New throttle cable will be in order, and I may port up an extra throttle body to put on with it. I bet that was part of the reason boost was becoming ever more slow to respond, and the missing 20-30whp on the 18psi run. I had checked it at the beginning of last year, but the cable looks pretty worse for wear at the moment.....

That won't be the reason why.

Btw, the setup looks good.

Interesting B, so you're saying only having 80% throttle wouldn't effect power output? I'd tend to think that it would...

The exhaust manifold just has good ol reliable header wrap (DEI), the lower intake manifold has some DEI heat shield tape stuff....the intercooler pipes and everything black is just some high temp (1600F) ceramic spray balm crap. Looks nice but doesn't work well. If I have my way and get a powder coating setup to go with my newly discarded stove, I'll be powder coat crazy

Yea I was just wondering. I have some similar looking coating but its ceramic coating. It helped very little with the temps but looks nice now. Looks good either way.

That's a great looking setup, and I hope it stays together this time.

At the meet, I'd like to see the software for the ECU, if that's alright.

Yeah I hope so too Aaron, I've got a good feeling about it this time

Yeah you can check out the software for sure. If you want, its available as a download on the electromotive site.

http://www.distributorless.com/ (wintec 4.5.25)

Its fairly decent. Takes a little getting used to coming from haltech....but its working very well so far. I've actually found it very quick to get running half decent. Zero out the VE table and play with TOG and IOT until its running decent, then tweak from there

Looks awesome Joe! I was up in Hagersville yesterday, I was going to stop by but I realized you had already left for down south. Looking forward to coming up and checking out the car one day when you get back.

Wow.....

So its been a long time since I updated this thread

First - I have a few pics I'll upload soon of our Deals Gap trip, and subsequent Key West trip.

WE FINALLY MADE IT ALL THE WAY WITH NO BLOWN ENGINES

Next major update that I'll post up right now is the utter success of my tuning trip to Ohio.

I drove the car down to Logan @ Defined Autoworks for him to work his magic on the Dyno Dynamics. As always, its never smooth sailing.

On the first day, I had just got the car loaded on the dyno. Logan began making some base adjustments, revving the car in neutral etc. I'm standing behind the car talking to Peter when we hear this PING and the car stalls.

It fires right back up (with even pulses -phew! lol) but when logan lets the clutch out, the car's doing 100km/hr.........with the shifter in neutral?

Something inside the REBUILT TRANSMISSION has been jammed into 5th and won't let go. So progress was stopped while we swapped transmissions.

The next day, we got somewhere on the tune. But being inside choking on its own exhaust netted poor power, and a few shakey areas in the tune when the car is out in the fresh air.

So day three, we did it.

Here's the wastegate map (10psi)

Very pleased with the car even only at 10psi. Pulls like a train up top, and the power is very smooth. The graph almost looks N/A-ish he's got everything dialed in so nicely...

"low boost" setting on the profec (15psi)

On this setting the car really comes to life. I've pulled on a C5 Z06 corvette from a dig on this setting. Not by much, but I was making headway

And the high boost (19.7psi)

Now....as you see, this graph is all jumpy. My clutch began slipping at this setting, so we couldn't really get it totally dialed in. Personally, I think if the clutch held power would've been up even higher, but you can tell its barely holding the 380whp runs since this graph is essentially the same minus the spike from the over-rev when the clutch slipped.

So for now I'm driving the car on the two lower settings and *finally* getting some enjoyment out of her. A good tune and solid ECU go along way in keeping you happy.

One other minor point:

This engine is not the same engine I went to deals gap with. I had blown that one trying to tune up the Electromotive by myself when I got home. Which was when I decided it was time to stop playing "tuner" and pay a REAL PROFESSIONAL to do it.

Specs on the engine:

Same porting as before (same irons...near stock ports)
S4 rotating assy.
Mildly larger exhaust ports because I port matched to the replacement housing

I'll also add, that logan does tuning the way I would imagine it should be done. Loading on the dyno, cell by cell, one RPM point at a time. None of this "floor it, lets see what happens" stuff.
I've tried doing it this way (cell by cell loading) on the road, but its next to impossible without going through a billion sets of rear brake pads. There will always be some touch ups needed when going from the dyno to the street, but this type of load tuning gets things much much MUCH better dialed then simply letting the car wring out and adjusting the fuel to suit the VE of the engine. This way hits curve you'll be running through at full throttle - but also does EVERY SINGLE CELL inbetween. No subsitute for real pros here.

I'll be posting more detailed bits elsewhere and link them here. But later I will also post some of the pics from Florida and everywhere we went inbetween on our 7,500KM journey

Peace!

Great to hear you finally got the car dialed in. Are you gonna leave it as it is or gonna put in a clutch in at some point and try again. Either way, I'm sure your pretty happy with the car now that you don't have to think about the tune

Your car looks so bad ***. In fact you should offer that bumper and light kit grafting for sale. It would totally be a huge seller. I guarantee that 1 would sell!

No I'll just be running as is for now on the two lower power settings. Car's a rocket ship at that power anyways....

When I get the ceramic seal engien together with my ported plates, I'll strap a twin plate on the back of it and shoot for +500whp on race gas. I think that turbo should do it with porting and 25-30psi.

I've given this some serious thought actually. *If* it ever happens though, there'd be a few holds ups. One being, its not done. I'm not happy with the way it flows together, and want to make a number of changes when I spray the car again.

The second and larger problem is that the bomex cover (genuine bomex, straight from japan) fits like HORRIBLE TWISTED ****. And my cover started life as that. So unless I went to the lengths of creating a mould of my existing one, producing a piece, modifying THAT piece to fit the car - then REMOULDING that part to start production......it would never fit right. Or at least, fit well enough for me to feel comfortable selling.

But you never know, stranger things have happened
