Well, i never imagined i would see the day when my first s5 Turbo II would be sent off to the government for crushing and dismembering.
The story begins like this, and i'll keep it short, i put hundreds of hours filled with blood, sweat, tears, frustration, joy and pure exhileration into my 1989 TII. i put in over 6000 dollars worth of modifications over 1 1/2 years. I took it to the auto-x, the 1/4 mile track, school, work, etc...this was my daily driver. i loved this car so much.
unfortunately due to finacial reasons i decided to sell the car to a guy in ohio, i'm from texas mind you. He was super thrilled about the car and i thought he would take care of it and enjoy it for years to come. i took out a few of the prized parts to sell seperately so this guy could afford the price tag.
well, this is where the story gets sad.
i did a search today on this forum to see if the guy i sold the car to had a profile here. i wanted to see how the car was doing and if he enjoyed it. well, i came across 1 thread. yes, just 1 thread. it was his first and last.
he put the car up for sale and even had some lookers here. in his last post he says he didnt have the car anymore. so, i decided to email him to find out what happened to it, i.e. who he sold it to. i was considering the idea of buying it back.
this is his post...

No need to look any further! This is a red '89 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II (t2) that looks great and runs fast. 18" R1 Racing wheels. Apexi filter intake. Turbo Inlet Duct enlargement and straightening of tubes.BDC Motorsports Throttle body modification:Port, micro-polish, thermowax removal. Walbro 255 High Pressure fuel pump, complete re-wire from battery back to fuel pump with in dash on/off toggle switch. Replaced fuel filter, and fuel sock filter. Exhaust-3 turbo back. Racing Beat Downpipe 3 . Racing Beat Race Pre-Silencer 3 . 3 tubing 3 Magnaflow Diesel Baffled Race Muffler (straight through). Removed air pump, smog pump, and catalytic converters. The a/c is removed and there are no emissions components. The blower still works and the heater works too. Stock turbo with great boost, peaks at 15.5 psi and holds at about 12-13 at full throttle. Car dynoed at 208 rwhp on 91 octane at 6-7psi. Car is currently capable of sustaining 13psi and peaks around 15.5psi. My best guess is 260-275 to the ground. With a lightened flywheel and stage 2 clutch, I would expect 270-285 rwhp. Passenger seatbelt stuck in upright position. Mazda has a lifetime recall on that. Windshield wipers only work on low, a common problem. Left front tire rubs infrequently due to 18" rims. This car is must see! The body on this car is absolutely one of the best I have ever seen, if not the best.
We need to sell this car quickly, so I am only asking $4800 obo. Serious offers only please. No Trades.

Hi ******
...Actually I had a really hard time selling the car. I had several people look at it and drive it,
but no one would commit to buy the car. Some people said they would buy it after agreeing
on a price and would come back tomorrow with the money, but they never came.
I listed it multiple places, and even paid for an autotrader ad, but still no dice.
About 6 months ago I did the unthinkable. I got $4500 for the car, from the government.
I traded the car to the cash for clunker program and bought a new car. It was the hardest
decision I've made.
how much does that suck. he took a perfectly good origional TII with 260 rwhp, good paint, nice body, and sold out to the government for a mere 4500 dollars.
now the government has the car sitting somewhere in a car graveyard where it will either be dismembered, crushed or flat out ignored.
i know that it is just a car, but it is still a sad story. especially since the car was so meaningful to me. i can understand selling a car to someone who will take care of it and enjoy it, but why get rid of such a fine rx7 to go to the crusher?
can anyone feel my sentiment over what has happened to this once beautiful car?

tell me about it, i've been to junkyards seeing these nice cars with no problem. walk around to the engine bay. all i see is this hot green stain coming out from the seals with a sign saying government something... i just hope i dont see any sevens like that.
If you find out what dealer it went to you should be able to find out what junkyard got it. Most of the ones around here that got the cash for clunker cars didnt actually crush them, You might be able to find it...
I think the main point to that story is, we all know the government is messed up. But that guy is a dumb ***! He obviously knew about 7's and knew what they meant to some people.

^ Exactly. Just needs a new engine and your good to go. Also, in the process we could finally learn how badly that stuff they pour into the engine really mess's things up or if anything can be salvaged.
Soon as the car was C4Ced it's VIN was invalidated, the chassis can never be registered or titled again.
YeeeSS
"Cash for Clunkers" - crap, we need a country that is really "Of the People, By the People, For the People", not just political lip service.
Seems that "our" country is really Of the Lawyers, By the Bankers, For the Politicians an Lobbyists. Not that they don't have value added, but *should* they drive.
Sorry for the thread jack, but We need to *do* something. Feels like I went to McDonalds and got tofu - "where's the beef", where's the *change*...here Snipe, here Snipe...
