86-87 Sport model owners

If I recall, it's just like what holds the fender liners to the chassis-- 8mm head bolt, self-tapping ( goes into a plastic insert), w/ a phillips indent. I've used the phillips screws from the interior, the ones' that hold the logicon/gauges/radio in place to mount aero though, so you can get by w/ pretty much whatever lol

Hey peeps, I have a quick question.
I have a set of Tein lowering springs that I bought. They're for the n/a model s4.
My question is, should I have acquired turbo model lowering springs being that rx7 sports have different suspension than the base models? or is the 4 piston brakes and 15" wheels the only suspension difference between the n/a models?

well, I have a build date of 10/85. had the duckbill but sold it. 4 piston front brakes, the center piece of the front bumper aero, no front sides or other aero. no sunroof/ps/ac/cruise/power anything inside. aluminum hood and under belly pan. Sadly I bought it in pretty bad shape and its still not great but working on it little by little. I have a few pics in my album when I was replacing the rocker panels (yes, it was pretty bad). body is solid now and will be painted this year.
You'll hate me for this guys, its being built as a daily/ mid hp drift car. I have a torn apart t2 block minus a turbo and mani. I did buy 2+2 seats for her and it sitting on stock sport wheels and powered by max coilovers. I'm trying to make it pretty this year as it has been multi color for the last 4 years My gross income doesn't allow for a project car and I have a daughter that comes first. But enthusiasts find a way. It's slowly, SLOWLY turning into something.

Heh, I thought these were the same car at first glance. Beautiful cars, guys. Mine is the same exact configuration, but it didn't age nearly as well .
Also, a PSA for other Sport owners, I theorize that the big rust holes in my rocker panels may have been caused by moisture trapped between the body and the aero pieces in front of the rear wheel wells. It may be worth taking them off and making sure the paint is still intact and sealing everything up properly down there.

I am the proud former owner of an '87.5 Sport. Black exterior with grey Turbo II style interior. Rumor is that roughly 4200 87.5 Sports were made before the debut of the '88 GTU.
Options: power steering, cruise control, A/C, glass sunroof, full aero kit, factory polished wheels...I added the rear strut bar.
Sorry for the low res pics but I bought the car in '01 before I had a digital camera HAHA:

^^Wow nice one! Shame you sold it. That's good info about the 4200 87.5 sports, where'd you hear that?
also weird that you could buy a black non-turbo car in '87, as in the early 87 cars I'm almost positive only the T2 came in PZ brilliant black. Thanks for sharing man!!!

The late Icemark had a buddy at Mazda Irvine that came up with the number 4200.
Good eye, she was indeed Brilliant Black. Just noticed that my wheels are on backwards in this pic. Directional wheels confuse the high school mind I guess HAHA!

actually, your wheels are on correctly. from the factory they are set up like a wood saw blade orientation. supposedly (I'm not sure if its speculation over the years or actual fact) the sport wheels somehow scoop in some air to cool the brakes. I think the brake ducting from the front bumper does enough but someone told me about the wheels.

I'm not sure if they're meant to scoop air into the brakes, or to "drain" the air from under the car, not only creating air circulation for the brakes (draining the hot air from them) but also to reduce air pressure from under the car creating some "ground effect"
