This is my favorite pic of my favorite car on a road trip west. This is Highway 12 in Idaho and you can't tell from the pic, but the hatch is crammed with hiking gear and beer. After driving nearly 3K miles, the OEM clutch blew about 15 miles from home.
Ah, yes, the Sport model with the GXL sized wheels, beefed-up suspension and oversized brakes. Great car, as long as you put a CenterForce or better clutch in for a replacement.

Good news- I found all of my aero pieces today! Now all I need to do is locate/make 1 louver bracket and I'll be ready to fix the rust and put the aero and louvers on.
Here are some random pics of old stuff in my glove compartment..haha
I also have the paper that lists all the parts that were installed at the factory but I forgot to take a pic.

i bought my 1987 Sunrise red FC in February 2012. She only has 75k original miles. clean title. I am the 3rd owner and I don't see myself giving her up anytime soon.
Heres the dealership document

Btw I want to say thanks to who ever began this thread. I was a bit confused as to what kind of model my FC was. I knew it was not a GXL nor a GTU, so I'm glad I can associate myself with other base/sport model owners.

Thanks ya'll. She does have hand full of minor cosmetic issues, but nothing that can not be overlooked! I'm going to slowly modify her and fix these cosmetic issues swell

Hello.
First of all, let me say thank you to Landon303 for creating this topic!
I don't know how many Sport models are there, but that's something I would also like to know.
Facts? Well I don't know much except what is written on this forum. I've sent my VIN number to Mazda USA a few months ago, and even they couldn't get much information about my car.
The original paperwork is nowhere to be found (I'm already it's 4th owner at least...) so I cannot know for sure what this car is/was.
I was only able to find that my car is the Sport model, through what is written on the «Specifications: What did the 2nd Generation RX-7 come w/. Options & standard features» section of this forum and comparing that information with what my car has.
My car has the 4 wheel ventilated disc brakes, 4 piston brake calipers on the front wheels, and 1 piston brake caliper on the rear wheels.
I'm not sure about the suspension, but it seems to be the slightly lower and sport suspension.
About the aero items, there are some problems...
The front air deflectors have disappeared (maybe they have broken, stolen, or fallen of...) the sport mirrors are still there, and the side air deflectors have fallen of (the bolts are still there, though, Lol).
Now the rear spoiler, it's not the default Sport spoiler, but it's one out of the Mazda Finish Line catalog, called «Lip Style Rear Spoiler» (Maybe the first owner didn't like the original Spoiler and asked Mazda to switch to this one).
I won't post my car's VIN number, neither the license plate, for reasons you may understand... But I can tell you that my car's VIN number is around the 540 thousands...
So, here are the pictures:

Oh how weird that it has that spoiler! is it an 87 or 88?? It's almost like it's a GTU, but the mirrors don't match. & Then again, it's a european model which makes it even more strange/unique. Thanks for sharing!!
Would you mind posting more pictures of the seats, particularly the rear ones?
Also, those aero pieces can still be had new from mazda, but they're ~$330 per piece... sheesh!

Landon303:
It's not an european model. It's an american model.
It was first sold in the USA in 1987, and then it was imported to Portugal in 1992.
The spoiler thing is not that weird, because it's from the Mazda Finish Line catalog.
I think that anyone in that time could buy a stock RX-7, and then later ask Mazda to fit another spoiler. Which I believe is what happened here, although I'm not sure.
It cannot be a GTU, because GTU's were only sold from 1988 on, and the GTU has dual electric mirrors, twill upholstery, dual rear storage boxes with locks, theft deterrent system and limited-slip differential. All of these are not in this car.
I don't have any good pictures from the seats. The only ones that I have, are these ones:
I'll take some better pictures of the seats, and I'll post them by then.
About the missing aero pieces: I'll buy them when I have enough money

OH OK!! I didn't realize it was originally a US car. Way cool!
The later (87.5) sports did have the twill upholstery, & that makes total sense about the wing.
Check your VIN sticker in the door jam, it will say the build month/year of the car, I'm sure it's Feb/1987 or later.
Thanks for those pictures, I can try & help find you some aero if you'd want too
