good to know. I was thinking of getting snow tires (studded ones). the point my wife brings up is - i drive a much smaller car that all the SUV's and such for winter.
If i get hit i'm a goner. She has a point.
You are in MN, so you get tons of snow yes?

i went all winter with mine last year. no snow tires. i had summer tires the whole time, got sketchy a few times. but it was snow not ice. if its icy theres no way the 7 is going on the road.

a good 2-3 in. of snow. avg speed was 30-35 on side roads and around 60 on the highway since it was the only road that was pretty much clear.
the snow isnt that bad its the ice and overpasses that are scary.
but i had snow tires the previous year and absolutely loved it. the general altimax artics are the best bang for the buck

snow or all season tires help a lot. but you have to be careful you do have a disadvantage with rwd. but it also has the same effects as fwd. too much throttle will spin, too much break will stall.
if possible car pool during severe weather. better safe than sorry.

I lived in up state NY for a while and drove my vert for a winter. It was fine, I just had to respect the car and respect the snow. Be aware of you surrounding and don't panic. You'll be fine.

thanks for the info fellas. i tarped it last night for the blizzard we got. i have an uphill battle with wifey considering the bus (i live in a tourist resort area) runs every 30 minutes from my house to wrk so my schdule doesnt have to change.
i still want to drive it but using the bus, since i get 50% off the prices due to my job, i save not buying gas or snow tires for the winter.
i miss my rx7 already.

just as easy to get hit and squished on a beautiful sunny afternoon by a big SUV in a small car, although less likely.
We get tons of snow here i drove an RX-7 for a few winters when i was a lot younger. And even though i sucked as a driver i got around fine with snow tires, even on ice, etc. Has a lot more to do with driver skill and tires in snow than with the car itself. I don't drive RX-7s in the winter simply because i don't have to...not because i wouldn't.
2-3 inches? **** we had that in the first hour of the first snowfall this year...

I specifically try to drive my FC in the snow every year [I've done it every year there was snow since I got it]. It'll handle fine, though chains help immensely.
I wouldn't try it though if you get a lot of snow.. Last year or the year before we had [relatively] deep snow that lasted for a week, and it was a huge pain to drive in. Not fun like the usual..

Just drove in the snow last night, though it was probably only half an inch.. Really easy to control.
