1988 Turbo II Swap Build Thread - Finished!!

Well it all started off when i gladly traded my 90' 240sx for my current 1988 GXL RX7.
The engine was shot to begin with so it was a perfect opportunity to swap in a TII engine and the rest.

90' 240sx

88' GXL - First when i got it

My 1987 Turbo II Parts Car, came with EVERYTHING needed, full driveline but the engine was blown so it needed a rebuild. $500 for car

Engine bay of 87'

Turbo II Engine Removed

Got everything taking off her, sent her away to Conroy at 4KRUZN to get rebuilt

So I started removing the Blown 13B

I am very glad i inspected the S4 Turbo, the hot side was cracked and had a ton of shaft play!

After I cleaned her all up, makes a perfect centerpeice!!

Just got the engine back!!!!

Rebuild 13BT, Large Streetport, 3MM Apex Seals, S5 Turbo

Didnt take any pictures of removing it and i regret i didnt, I didnt take any pictures putting the TII in because i did it myself and about 2 am and i just wanted it done!

Turbo II Engine In

I didnt take any pictures of removing/installing differential, driveshaft, tranny, or exhaust

Purchased an aluminum TII hood with vents already cut in

There is a pretty god scratch in it but im repainting it in the spring.

I missed alot of picture opportunities, well she is all finished. I am putting in an electric fan before summer so that will answer some people even before they ask, thus i didnt put on the fan shroud.

The Blow Off Valve Question I Had In The Other Thread, Picture, hopefully someone has an answer

Finally, A Video Of It Running, Stock exhaust (wich will be changed!!!), with 2 ractive cans on back, i did not buy them, it was the stock exhaust off the parts car.

**waiting to be downloaded**

I cant decide what colour to paint the car, any suggestions, with pictures please!!

Also, exhaust, any preferences?? I dont mind loud cars at all so im keeping the N1 as a possibility. Also with videos if possible.

Finally, I want a new blow off valve, what is everyone running or likes? Im using a TurboXS RFL right now.

Nice to see someone that went all the way with a tii swap, CONGRATS! ... I would either go crystal white (10th anny) or black. Maybe red too, there's to many colours I like on fc's.

Thanks man!
It was actually a fun swap to do compared to some others.
I am just amazed how a street port idles, sounds sooo aggresive!
I was thinking of 2 toning it, any preferences of exhaust or bov?

I wouldn't two tone the car, jmo. I think the 7 is too small a car to pull off that look. I considered it myself, but I'm going with one solid color myself. Nice job on the swap.

Don't know about bov, there's apexi and blitz. Depends on what your looking for. For exhaust, I'm pretty biased on the rb system. Rb truly is amazing. I'm gonna get the rb system myself this spring.

O i didnt really specify, i know alot about blow off valves and the different sounds/ brands there are.
Like i said i like loud cars/ things to do with cars so i got a turboxs rfl (really ******* loud)

I have been trying to find a greddy type s, they replaced it with the "rs" so the "s" i tough to find.

I am really liking the new hks ssqv, was never a fan of it before, but i was impressed.
My friend has a blitz bov, not a big fan.

I was going to go with the dual rb exhaust but its soooo common.
I might just make myself a 3" straight through exhaust to some 4" can??

Any preferences on paint?
I was really liking the pearl white.
But i also like black???
Its a tough pick!!!

whites a good color and so is black

black will show every imperfection on the car, and is a pain to keep clean

whites alot more forgiving, but just as hard to keep clean

dont even question doing your swap.
its a fairly easy swap to do, lots of parts accesable, and the finished product is awesome!!

a few people have recomended buying a front clip for my swap, which would cost around 2500-3000 and thats without the rear end of course

so do you think it'd be better if i just got a blown TII and get a rebuild or should i get a front clip and rear end???

o and btw you did a great job! very inspiring!!!
