1800 mile Trip, Nottingham UK to French Alps and back

Just been on a weekend trip in my 1989 RX7 turbo 2.

From Nottingham (central Britain) to Vaujany (Alps-France). 900 miles each way. In some of the most harsh snow Britian and France has seen in 20 years. Through paris, cruising at 80 mph on motorways for 5 hours at a time, Up mountain passes covered in snow.

Done it all alone, continuously (only stopping for fuel and ferry). it took 17 hours each way. Average 27 mpg (British Gallon), the lights up really does effect range 330 miles to a tank lights up, 370 miles to a tank lights down. Cruising at 80 mph is more efficent than 60 mph!!!

The RX7 didn't miss a beat, had a tyre let go on the motorway but that was it. does need a oil change now tho

Will have pictures soon of the FC up the Alps, but film camera so will take a few days.

Sounds like that would have been a beautiful trip! What kind of tires were you using in all that snow? Pictures please

Nice adventure.

My experience with speed vs. mileage is similar. I get better highway mileage at 80 mph than at 60, and a couple of miles better up vs. down...but I'm referring to the vert top, not the headlights!

Post some pictures when you can.
