what is this called S4

i’m sorry if this is a stupid question i’m very new to this. i used a smoke machine to determine a small vacuum leak and then when proceeding to try to find the next one (because my idle is still unstable) the smoke is now coming out of this:

allow me to clarify it was not coming out of the hose, rather out of the top where the moving part is.

i’m unsure if that should happen, and if not: what is this and should i order a new one? thanks in advance.

Mazda calls it N326-13-W7Y, Diaphragm. these cars have a system to keep the secondary throttle closed when the coolant is still cold. kind of like how a new car will limit rpm until its warmed up.
if you plugged that vacuum line, and bypassed the thing you wouldn't be the first one...

Good luck finding one of those that works. .. . .. . This is what I did. . Seems to work but will need a simple plate flange made.
