Transmission for 88fc

Hello, I have purchased a 88fc with 50k on the motor and no transmission, planning to rebuild the 13b motor and keep it NA. My problem is finding a transmission for it. My question is can I use any other Manuel transmissions? Or a turbo 2 transmission? Sometime in the future I would like to swap it to a turbo 2. But for now my cheapest route is to keep it NA and restore the car completely.

theres no other transmission that will bolt onto it EXCEPT another rotary transmission unless you make an adaptor plate, and that would probably also mean you would need to extend the input shaft a hair.

Being as you have a N/A engine (also guessing it still has the flywheel on it?) you HAVE to stick with a N/A transmission, OR, since your wanting to go turbo in the future, you could save yourself the hassle and get a turbo flywheel and transmission, but then you need a special driveshaft

AKA cheap route, find a N/A trans
more expensive, but easier in the future, find a turbo trans, flywheel, and turbo-N/A driveshaft and set yourself up for a better build

There's a thread here about using a miata transmission too.

There's a guy on Ebay that rebuilds rx7 transmissions and builds them to be stronger than a stock tranny. I think he charges $800. He's in North Carolina I think. He has lots of transmissions in stock I believe. You would spent more now but less in the long run. It's what I would do. You might find one for $500 or 600 but I would go with the guy in NC. Trade him you trans for a turbo trans.

According to his adds he's $900 for a stock equivalent, $1200 for a stronger box.

I've been curious about trying him, but never heard any feedback.

Given the distance and the fact he has exactly what I want, I'll grab one in the next few months and post back.
Building up a convertible with a turbo, what fun!
