Signal lights don't want to shut off
My '90 convertible has sprouted a new problem.
I have the signal lights where you just push the lever up or down a little, the lever returns, and it signals right or left. (Not sure if all Gen 2's are like that) The lights work fine, and shut off when I turn the wheel far enough in the signalled direction, then turn it back. The problem is that I can't shut them off any other way. It used to be the case that if I was signalling right, I could tweak the lever left a little, and it would shut off the right hand signal. Now it simply activates the left hand signal. There appears to be no way to get it to stop signalling other than turning the wheel.
Has anybody ever had this stuff apart? I'm guessing there's a switch in the steering column which is supposed to engage when you push the lever partway, but isn't.
I haven't dug into the wiring diagrams yet. Hoping somebody here has some hints, to save me some time. Thanks in advance...

Sounds like the switch itself is broken, had that issue on my 99 cherokee, I replaced the signal switch and it worked after that, could also just be a simple thing like an interior fuse blown
