Turn Signals/Hazard lights problem

two days ago i have noticed that i have no turn signal or hazard lights. they were working fine 3 days ago but then nothing. i still have parking kights and all just the flashing is not there. i checked all connections and they were good but then i used a multimeter and it seems im not getting enough juice, i also checked the fuses and none are blown, they are all good, a friend of mine tells me that its the whole switch mechanism on the steering wheel that could use some cleaning on the contacts wuth an eraser or to replace it what should i do? any help would be appreciated

1. Check all your lights around and make sure they are having good connection and clean the area.
2. Make sure that your fuses are all good.
3. Make sure your flasher is good or replace it which is cheap.

Beside that I am not sure that is all I did when I had my Turn Signals problems.

Both the HAZARD AND TURN are not working???

The hazard should always be able to blink the GOOD bulbs.

The turn signal will fail when just one bulb is bad.

I have never heard of both failing.

I'm not sure if the fb has only one flasher or two.. If it only has one, it will control both the hazards and the turn signals.

There is just one flasher. It is located near the fuse box (driver's side, under the dash, just above the left front speaker). The flasher plugs into the side of the CPU (controls intermittent wipers, hazzard lights, seat belt light + buzzer, etc.). I would checkout the flasher and CPU box, then maybe go back to testing the switch.

My hazards don't work either. My blinkers work, but after the turn they don't stop blinking. I have to manually turn them off. What gives? This is on a 84' GSL.

the flasher modules on these cars do go out eventualy. From what ive seen the most its the hazards stop working, whick kills everything on the hazard circuit not to funtion such as interior lights.

Your best bet is just to replace the moduel with one from a junkyard

There's a mechanical switch in the steering column that return the blinker yolk to neutral when the steering wheel is turned. I think if you remove the horn button you can see it.

dasupacat, what most likely happened is someone removed the steering wheel and couldnt get the horn wire hooked back up. You need to take the horn assembly oon the steering wheel completely apart to get it hooked back up (easiest way). Another thing they most likely did was broke those plastic nubs (mechanical switch) when putting the steering wheel back on.

I tried taking the horn button off, but it felt impossible. So I stopped cuz I felt I was gonna break it off. What's the horn button held by?

The horn button itself or the vinyl cover? Vinyl cover thing (says mazda) should just pull off. The button itself unscrews from the back so you would need to take the wheel off and go from there.

I tried pulling the vinyl cover off with no luck. Thought I would break something. Guess I'll just have to try again.

If its never been taken off, or has been awhile, it may need a little extra persuasion (screwdriver). After that it is just bolted on and just hit the wheel on the edge (the part you hold when driving) and it should eventually pop off

Careful about hitting the wheel.. I broke my collapsible column doing that.. Go to autozone and rent a steering wheel puller.. Much safer.. and cheaper..

Ya, you can spend an hour hitting pulling and pushing or buy the right tool for the job and turn it into a 'non-event' where you go 'ya,so what? I pulled my steering wheel off.'
