Rx7 Starts only with starter fluid
Rx7 Starts only with starter fluid
Hey guys, I'm still new to the rotary world. We got our engine rebuilt on our '87 fc, and we put it together. We cranked it a lot and nothing happened. We tried different things, we checked the spark, all good. We also listened to the fuel pump and it did make noise. At some point earlier we took off the fuel lines when it was off, and they spilled out a significant amount of fuel. We ended up taking starter fluid and spraying it into the intake and it started up and instantly died. So I'm very sure it's a fuel issue.
Things to note - our fuel is about 6 months old (it's been sitting in a garage for that time) and we premix. I realized I should have put stabilizer into it a bit late, about 2 months after it was sitting. I'm concerned about it being bad and I wonder if I should just drain it and start over.
Number 2 - our injectors worked previously but they do seem old. Probably the first thing we will try is connecting them to a battery and tapping them to clean it out, as I read on these forums that's something I should try.
Anything else that could be something I'd need to diagnose? Thanks!

Backwards connections!
I never heard of making a wrong connection.........wait a minute, there was that time when somebody switched the positive and negative cables on his battery on purpose!
There was harm and foul!
