Give me some direction, bringing car back from the dead

Ok so we have an 86 n/a that we are trying to get to fire up. The car sat for a few years before we got it. I have searched to a pretty good extent.

New battery, is getting spark, and has excellent compression. I believe it is not getting fuel. When the test connector is jumped, I can hear fuel going through the fuel rail. When I pull the plugs and crank it, I cannot see any puffs of gas coming out.
What are some things to start checking?

Have you tried starter fluid?

Ehh nope. I can give that a whirl. I'm starting to suspect the injectors though.

*edit

When I spray starter fluid in the intake, it does stumble like it wants to start.

Another thing that may be possibly related, the AFM makes a steady *tick, tick, tick* when cranking. Maybe a second or less apart. Sounds like the flap opening and closing, like metallic.

If it sat for a couple of years, it wouldn't hurt to inject a few teaspoons of Marvel Mystery Oil in each rotor. Some people use ATF but Marvel Mystery Oil will do the same thing and it lubricates better. You will probably have to add it moire than once.
The way I do it, I inject a little in each bank, turn the motor over a little , then put the plugs back in and see if it will fire.

That's the first thing I did to the engine, even before I put it on the trailer.

Compression isn't the issue here. I haven't done a standard test, but when cranking, I get 3 even puffs of air on each rotor, very strong. I know it's just an estimate, but I'm very confident in the compression of this engine.

I definitely am sure it's fuel related now. After a half an hour of tinkering and cranking, there was not a drop of gas on the plugs. Usually, (on my car) if I pull the plugs and crank it, I get puffs of fuel vapor comin out. With this car I get nada.

I plan on pulling the intake and swapping the primary injectors and fuel rails with known good spares sometime soon, but keep the input coming. I'm also going to swap out the MAF for the sake of doing it.

You didn't mention it... fuel filter changed? Injectors having sat for years won't help either.

I'd say start with the filter, then move to the rails, then the injector plugs, then injectors. If the pumps coming on, it has to be one of those.

pull the line off the fuel filter and then jumper the pump check connector to ensure that your pump is actually moving fuel around.

It does have a brand new fuel filter in it too. I will still check for fuel flow though when I tear it all apart.
