Rx7 odd response to putting pedal down more than a quarter

I have an Rx7 Fc Vert 1990 i bought it as a project car a year or so ago. it’s always had an odd problem where the car will not allow me to press the gas pedal down more than a quarter of the way or it starts lurching and cutting in and out. But recently i was messing around with the car completely off and was pressing down the gas pedal all the way a couple times and then i turned the car back on and oddly enough the car was responding to any length of the gas pedal and it drove perfect, i’m assuming it’s something to do with fuel lines maybe? can anyone help me?

I would start by checking out the TPS, but the narrow and wide range.

Can you elaborate on what a tps is? is it something that i can do myself or should i take it in to the shop? and how much money will it be to repair it if i find out it is messed up?

The S5 non-turbo TPS sensors (https://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/8...tegory_id=1196) are on the front side of the throttle body.

Refer to these links for TPS adjustment procedure:

Well, it's your call. If you don't feel confident enough doing it yourself, than I would recommend taking your car to Banzai Racing. It should be reassuring to know that you have highly competent rotary shop that's not too far away.

I have decided to do it myself and am going to purchase the banzai tps tester and do it through that, it seems the easiest rather than look for the right amount of knots and all that stuff. will it still get the job done though?

You can try. Sometimes they're kind of finicky to adjust, but once set correctly they shouldn't need to be readjusted again for a long, long time. The ECU compensates for minor variations in the TPS setting. If you can't get a stable adjustment, than usually the TPS is bad and needs to be replaced. There's tons of discussions about this on this forum.
