How do u increase the depth of the gas pedal?

Hey I just recently purchased my first 1988 AE TII and the first thing i noticed was that the gas pedal only goes down about an inch. I was wondering if theres any way i can increase this because it becomes very difficult to control the gas when shifting and etc. Thanks in advance.

congrats on the buy.

is there a lot of play at the beginning of the pedal travel or does it simply not go to the floor?

these gas pedals actually really don't have much travel, but more than 1".

it just seems like when i press it...it doesnt go much further than 1-2". It's like the start of the pedal feels like its 1/2 way to the floor already, and when i press it any further its on the floor. Makes it really hard to feel the pedal and to apply the right amount of gas etc.

you can read the FSM for proper gas pedal adjustment and free-play.

if you don't have it i'll try to post it after work.

adjust the "A" nut to get rid of excessive slack.
