Pre Thermostat Water Temp Sensor Locations (S4 T2)

So while digging through the threads over the years some of the pictures have been lost to dead links. I'm trying to find a solid location to mount my aftermarket water temp sensor for an external gauge and I can't find a good info (with a picture for reference) for where I can mount the sensor. I know I want to measure pre thermostat temps so I can monitor what temps are like while the thermostat is closed, but when it comes to locations on the S4 T2 water pump housing I can't find a good place. I've asked in other places about this and I get a ton of responses from people just saying to drill and tap post the thermostat and I get pictures from NA folks that have different water pumps, what I'm looking for is info from someone with an S4 that has done this.

Speaking of S4, I'll be looking for another water pump housing to drill and tap so I can still drive my T2 while this is going on and I'm most likely waiting for parts to ship (gaskets and such), but I'm having one hell of a time trying to source a replacement. I know the S4 housings area 7 bolt setup and the S5 are an 8 bolt, but one thing I wasn't clear on are is these the bolts to mount the housing to the rotor housing or are these the counts of the bolts to mount the pump to the housing?

Regarding water temperature sensor locations, have you looked at either the center iron drain plug location or the Greddy radiator hose attachment (https://www.nengun.com/greddy/radiat...e-attachment)?

Lots of people don't recommend using a hose attachment because it's after the thermostat, so if it gets stuck closed you won't see the rising temperatures until it's too late.

Credit goes to Aaron Cake for the picture, it's where I mounted mine and it's right underneath the thermostat.

I've never read anyone using the drain, nor did I actually know it was there (still new to RX7's and rotarys.)

As for the radiator hose attachment, as convenient as that is, it's still post the thermostat, so it's not going to provide the data I'm after.
