I’m looking to buy a project FC. At the moment I’ve found one that I’m interested in, and have posted pics a bit further down in the post. Hoping to get some opinions on the car and insight on common rust spots in FC’s.
I’m mainly looking for a clean, rust free body. Engine, exterior, interior, etc aren’t really that important to me.
Well. . . .S5 TII's are hard to come by in general, but that one has seen better days.
If you are going to get it registered in CA, it's going to be a challenge because it has to go back to stock.. . Lots of little parts will be needed. Nickel and dime'd you will be.
Somebody has messed with the fuel lines. . .Most likely they installed non stock injectors.
I'm not sure but the header down pipe looks like it has ports welded in.
No power steering pump
No intercooler
No AFM
Lots of little items missing
refitting the interior is going to be a challenge. . . I'd start with engine first anyways.
Check to make sure the ECU and harness in that area hasn't been messed with.
It has all the hallmarks of being toughly used.. . .Try to find out what the VIN says . . . .Most likely it is a TII S5 but you never know.
You better go into it assuming you are going to need a rebuilt engine cause it ain't running now and there's a reason why.
I've always wanted a white S5 Turbo Pandem body kit that was smogable.. . .Don't ask me why.. . .California has beat me down.
so with that one, it looks nice on the outside, which is nice. you would want the vin to confirm, but it looks like an S4 turbo with the S5 trim (bumpers and moldings) on it.
the engine bay is a mess but it looks pretty complete, except its missing the emissions equipment.
with the interior the stuff that is there looks ok, but its missing a lot. interior is the hardest thing to get right, if that is what you're after.
someone was also trying to veeT3k on no budget, they deleted stuff like the wipers, AC and the Heater(!), but its stock suspension. the vert wheels are light, but they are also tiny
i would also bet there is a surprise under the front bumper, it doesn't fit very well
in summary: it needs to be completely gone through, but since the body is already presentable, and the engine is there, it would be pretty straight forward.
if you wanted a nice OEM interior though, it would be a thing, unless the dude has all the stuff that was removed
