How save a flooded (...from rainwater...) S5 turbo convertible (vids inside))

Greetings from Greece.
I was 12-13 years old when I first saw an S5 convertible in front of me. I was amazed by the looks and when I found out about the performance I decided that this was a dream car for me. Time jump to 2001. After one year of searching in every used car magazine and marketplace, I found a white S5 convertible that looked like brand new. The owner had kept it in a garage for 10 years and it was in an excellent, factory like condition with 74.000km. So, I bought it and lived the rotary dream for 22 years with many ups and downs like almost all rotary car owners. The car was also kept in a garage for all these years and lately it was in an excellent condition with first stage mods and a PFC that solved many problems. BTW I live in central Greece, in a city with no rotary experts and the maintance and troubleshooting was done by me in my garage with the help of the FSMs and this amazing forum.

Second time jump to the 5th of September 2023. That day, central Greece was struck by the "Daniel" storm. It was raining non stop for almost 4 days. The whole city was flooded and the banks of the nearby river broke suddenly and filled the garage with rainwater up to the ceiling. I am sure that you can understand the despair that I felt when I realised that the car was ruined. Luckily, I had an insurance that could cover a small amount of the repair cost but that money are nothing in comparison to the final cost. Also the car could not move of course so I would need a trailer and another car to use for any trasports to the mechanic, the body shop etc. Once again I was desperate for a sollution. I love this car too much to let it die. So, I decided to ask the help of a famous greek youtuber that I had met in the past. He owns one of the best RX8s in Greece and he is well known for the car giveways that he does. Dimitris Gionis contacted me immediately. He was devastated by my story and decided to help me fix this rare in Greece car while filming a new series for his channel. He and his sponsors are helping me to clean and repair the car so if anyone wants to watch the whole process you can subscribe to his channel and enjoy the content. Here is the second video of the series. I will update this thread with every video of the series. I wish you all the best and try to protect your cars from the devastating effects of climate change.

sorry to hear about your loss, but i'm glad that you're still around to tell us about your misfortune.

i will gladly check in from time to time to see you and your friend put this thing back together. i have always been curious about what it would take to bring a car back from flood damage, so this should be enlightening for me.

good luck with it all.
