Help me get a Series VII!!
Hey guys
I finally convinced my dad to lend me (or give me ) the money to import a 1996 RX7 from Japan. My uncle owns a car yard and has some great hook-ups over there.
Everything was going well and I was really excited about finally getting my dream car when my uncle dropped a bomb and tolled my dad that "mechanics for rotary engines are really expensive and that he wont be able to fix the car if anything goes wrong because he (my uncle) doesn't know anything about them". He also went on to say that they need allot of maintenance etc.".
This made my dad change his mind and said for me to look at a piston engine powered car.
Now I know that those were all valid statements. Yes, if rotary engines are not cared for or modified poorly they can cause headaches. But I also know that Mazda took great care in designing the car and that if I leave it relatively stock and maintain it properly (regular oil changes etc) it will run just as long as any other turbo charged car. (My dad already bought my older brother a Mitsubishi Lancer GSR).
So help me put guys. I’m going to show my dad this thread and I hope that you’ll help me convince him that a series 7 will not require "at least $2000 a year for maintenance" as he sais.
Thanks allot for your input.
