First month of t2
First month of t2
This my first fc, bought a 87 t2 built 5/86 vin fc332----0150289 early vin, has sunroof and correct gauges. My question is it a real t2 car every thing I read t2 has later vin numbers and built later
The TII was introduced at the Chicago Auto Show in March of 1986. It was released to the public shortly thereafter as a 1987 model. The earliest production date TII that I have personally seen is a 4/86 production car and there is another member here on the forum with another 4/86 production TII. And based on that vin, I would not question whether it's a t real TII or not, especially if its Brilliant Black. In 1987, Brilliant Black was only available on the TII.

the T2 starts production around the end of March 1986, as a 1987 model. it does overlap with the 1986 model year production, which is a bit weird

I wanted to elaborate more on the vin. I should have done so yesterday.
JM1FC331- the 1 in the vin indicates a non turbo model
JM1FC332- the 2 in the in indicates a turbo model
So just based on seeing the vin we would know whether the car was original a non turbo or TII. Trim levels are not indicated in the vin number however. Just turbo or non turbo engines.
