Dimmer switch/ lights madness

I've searched the forums and didn't find an answer to my problem so with that said. I 1st had issues with my tails, dash and headlights not working after swapping out my window switches. Come to find out that where the sub harness and headlight cluster switch connect, had burned the white a green wire. Sourced a RHD switch, bought an American harness and repinned it to work with RHD. Previous switch works but I don't wanna run it for more than a few seconds until the connector is fixed. Now my issue is headlights, tails and windows work but my dash and logicon lights only work with the old switch. So my conclusion is that it's the dimmer switch in the newly acquired cluster switch. This switch did come from the UK and not Japan, not sure if that matters or not.

I'll have to look at the wiring diagrams to check but I cant see why your window switches would have an effect on your lighting issues. Is this an S4 or S5? There is a difference in light switches/harness between the two. Is this also a JDM import or US car? (They are physically interchangeable and both harnesses can be swapped however the wiring is different and can cause issues trying to mix and match.)

It's a JDM S5, I ended up buying a UK spec switch but the dimmer switch relat inside was burned out so i connected the dashlights to the tails which was r/g to r/b if i remember correctly. But I bought a good condition US S5 subharness and re pinned it to work with the JDM switch. So for now the car is working and I can see at night and all of my lights are on lol.

I had issues in this area many moons ago. The connector on the back of the cluster switch shorted right where the short harness piece plugs in. I also had the tracing on the PCB peel up on brand new cluster switches. That area impacts all that you say it does. In my instance, no lights worked except high beams. Luckily I caught it before that connector really shorted out and caused more damage.

You're good to figure this out like you did.
