Cool Old Headlight Switch Burned, New Switch Burned Too: How To Fix or Rewire?

well my switch decided to burn up two days ago and it started a small fire. I find another switch today(with harness) and install. The new switch burns up and now im left with no switch. I took apart all the lights connectors etc, not finding a damn thing. So heres the new plan.... I'm gonna run new wires to the headlights to be put on one switch and the dash lights, tail lights, and running lights to another. I need some wire colors. Where can i tap into the light to get them to come on and do you guys have any other idea how i can go about doing this? (Another ghetto *** rig)

i wouldn't suggest doing that, you'll be better off finding a new dash wiring harness and installing it, it only takes like an hour to pull the dash

did you replace the light harness and clean all the bulb sockets when you replaced the switch?

If not, then just plugging in a new switch will not solve anything. The same problem will continue to happen
