AFM mystery wire

I’ve got a stock S5 convertible that is having idling issues/not starting, upon checking the MAF I discovered this odd wire

also when I have the MAF unplugged the car will fire up and go into an erratic idle at about 500 rpm. I’m just curious to know what this wire is and if it is causing my no start problem

Can you explain your no start issue in detail?

Did you check your compression?

I did check compression it was good, I’m getting a Denso fuel pump sometime this week, I had put a really cheap one in there previously. The fuel tank has a new level and sensor as well as clean fuel lines. I have cleaned the injectors and replaced the UIM gaskets. Although it sat for 15 years all the engine rubber is somehow in amazing shape. I’m talking pliable rubber with now micro fractures or cracks.

The car actually ran with the AFM plugged in but then my buddy flooded it. After I flooding it has never run again.

I think that it is a fuel pump issue, I’ll post about if it’s the solution.

thanks in advance!
