So what do you propose as superior?

oh but it is true, my RX8 overheated without the undertray and that's a POS non turbo.

for the e-fan debate, i didn't know e-fan technology has come so far in the last 10 or even 20 years that the taurus fan has become obsolete. i mean hell, they pull enough air, they have multi speeds and they still work after being rained on in a wrecking yard for 10 years after having been used for another 15 years inside a 200F engine bay everyday. if that isn't reliable, i don't know what is.... if it moves enough air that is one thing, if it moves air and works for another 10 years, what is there to debate? most items made recently are cheaper and less reliable than they were 20-30 years ago, which includes fans. because i have seen FD and RX8 efans fail on numerous occasions but i have never seen a taurus fan fail EVER! hey it might happen, who knows.... i just haven't heard of or seen it. tell ya what, i'll trust my engine to the crappy ford fan over some random ebay chinese crap anyday.

I have had luck with Pontiac 6000 fans. You need to make a bracket to mount it. It has its own shroud. Buy a new fan motor from autozone before you install it. You can get the connector pigtails as well.

It's single speed and doesn't drain the battery too much. Use a thermoswitch to activate.

Jack, you know this game better than anyone, so I'm not trying to step on any toes. Even you yourself have backed off the Taurus in favor of returning to the Lincoln Mark VIII, last I read.

The Taurus is a hungry fan. If I wanted something that hungry I'd suggest just doing the Lincoln, I think you'll agree. A little milder, I like the Villager. Great fit, moderate power requirements. I've never tried it on an AC car like you have, but with a FMIC and 400 whp, it hasn't let me down when coupled with an undertray.

You say not getting over 210 like its a good thing. 210 on an FC is scary close to failure. eBay E-fans suck. That's why you were running 210 and most likely hotter. A proper fan wired in properly with the undertray installed will keep you cool. Period. From experience, Taurus fan, two speeds. Normal operating temp in almost all weather conditions 185. The hottest it got ever, on a hundred and three dare day in stop and go traffic was 193. Front mount, s366 turbo, haltech e6k. I'm the the Chinese fan worked for you. I would bet money it's going to fail on the next guy. Do it right or don't do it at all.

I haven't been paying attention to the RX7 scene lately, I thought maybe I had missed out on something new.

I personally have pretty much rethought the whole efan thing. I believe that it is important to pull air uniformly through the entire radiator AND that you should focus on getting the hot air out of the engine bay. I believe this due to the way my Lincoln MK8 has destroyed the under hood blanket on my 90 vert. That's a lot of turbulent airflow with a lot of back pressure. I haven't measured it, but I can see the results.

I have used a one speed 16" hayden fan to cool my 10th anniversary TII for 2 summers. It pulls around 11 amps. I turn it on for temp and I also activate it with the A/C compressor. I have a g-dspeed dual pass radiator and a custom made fiberglass fan shroud. The shroud elevates the fan to vertical, similar to the OEM belt driven fan. I believe that this moves the hot air out of the engine bay more efficiently. Something must be working, because the combo is cooling fine in our very hot Dallas summers with the A/C running.

I originally designed the shroud for the Vulvo 2-speed fan. I knew the S4 alternator likely couldn't handle the power requirements, so I used the Hayden fan to cool the car after I did the rebuild. I intended to move on the the Volvo fan, but haven't needed too.
