10th AE pricing discussion

There are plenty of posts out there asking, "Whats my mint 19XX RX7 with 17mi worth", but those are the rarest of the rare cars.
What I want to discuss the value of clapped out cars!!

I recently went to check out a 10AE that's posted for sale locally. Typical white paint flaking off and starting to rust throughout. Missing a couple moldings. 10th shift **** is MIA. Seats are CLAPPED. Chip in the windshield. Normal interior items broke/missing.... BUT.... it does fire right up, idles sounds steady, no structural rust, and clean title.

For the sake of discussion, what do YOU think something like that would be worth? What's the value in a VIN, a few trim choices, and the knowledge that the car is probably 1 of ~1000 these days (at best). You can find examples of good/great condition cars on BaT for 20-40k$, with the top end being near mint of course. I know personally my build would be "resto-mod", and maybe not be the most desirable, BUT.. I bet Id still be out of pocket 20k$+ on a vehicle like this to make it right.

Thoughts? Is a clapped 10thAE worth 8$?.. 5k$?.. 15k$.. 9 million Iranian Rial?

Maybe a little of a hot take, but I personally don't see the extra value that a 10th AE commands. I think aside from the relatively irrelevant factory aesthetic add-ons, it's a Turbo2, and thus I would only pay Turbo2 market values. Unless you're leaving it 100% oem for the collector status, these cars beg to be modified, so paying extra for things that will likely be replaced or upgraded don't make a ton of sense. Just my take.

Basically where Im at.. Id rather have an 89TII.. paint it white.. do all the mods.. and call it an 11th AE. I see the value of a limited production vehicle, but only to an extent.

In my opinion that’s irrelevant and with a price that’s completely arbitrary I think it’s a 10AE it should be under 10K. Unless it’s near mint it’s a clapped 80’s car, and tbh 3-5k is about what any FC is gonna get you, so unless it’s up there on a polished pedestal, I really don’t believe they’re worth more than a normal one, our whole community isn’t exactly torn on that opinion, we know it’s special, and it’s cool, but so are the GTUs GTUs’s Infini 3 and 4’s the 2+2’s and verts, all in their own little ways: and the 10AE is no different, it’s cool, it has some prestige, but it’s like a chase card, it’s only really valuable because we say it is, and even then it’s just another car.

say what you will, I think it’s something special, but it’s not FD price special lol
