Arrow Identifying S5 TII O-Rings In Overhaul Kit

So much for the summary sheet that Is contained In the Kit - It's very vague. I want to Identify all the O-Rings supplied In the Overhual Kit.

So far, I came up with this:

- (18)Tension Bolt

-(4)Dowel Pin

-(1)Eccentric Shaft Bolt

-(1)Rear Stationary Gear

-(1)Metering Oil Pump

-(1) Front Main w/Teflon Ring <- notorious

I have an additional 8 (1.5cm od) O-Rings. Are they for the Primary/Secondary Bleed Sockets?

There Is 2 thicker (3cm od) O-Rings. What Is It's purpose?

I have 1 even thicker (4cm od) O-Ring. What about that?

Did I cover all of them?

I've been told that the Overhaul Kit replaces ALL O-Rings. Than where are the little ones for the tops of the Fuel Injectors?!

- Yep that sounds right there are 8 o-rings for the primary/secondary inserts.

- There are two larger (don’t remember the dia but the 2 thick 3cm ones sound right) that are for the lower intake manifold to block for the water jackets. Remember one of your coolant lines from your turbo is feed by the lower intake manifold.

- The larger (4cm) thicker one is probably for the thermostat/upper rad hose assembly.

Here's a few -

- 2 are for the oil filter pedastal. Good to replace, as they leak bigtime .
- One is for the crank angle sensor
- I think some of the mystery O-rings are for the fuel rails on the '86-88 cars. If you remove the banjo bolts at the end of the rails, some of them have O-rings. I *think*.

There should also be a relatively large (about 3-4 in. diameter) O-ring that's kind of thin. This goes around the rear stationary gear. I can't tell you how long it took to figure that one out!

There's one small O-ring that's a greenish color - this is the front cover O-ring. DO NOT use the wrong O-ring on the front cover! The wrong one will pinch and blow out, and you'll have oil pressure woes. Front cover jobs are NOT fun .

When I open my kits, here is how I seperate them.

-tension bolt seals
-4 thin dowel bolt rings
-2 thicker oil pedestal o-rings
-the nylon and the very thin rubber front cover oring
-the thicker, very small diameter, e-shaft lockbolt o-ring
-the omp oring
-the cd sized one is the rear stationary gear
-the 1.5" one is for the CAS
-on turbo kits, the 2 gray orings are for the block to LIM connection
-on s5 kits, you have a 2" oring with a slot cut in the middle of it, this is for the thermostat
-the rest (if I am not forgetting any) are for the injector airbleed sockets, which I never remove anyway (given that theyll break if you look at them the wrong way).

I've always wondered what all those were for. Good info.

Thanks for the Info guys! I had called It a night (late) and as I though about the thread - I remember (or In this case forgot) to post the Oil Filter Pedestal and O-Rings to the LIM > Block as positively Identified. Further, I did make the effort to compare O-Rings with the CAS one but none matched up. I probably was more tired than I thought I guess.

It seems now, I have to order new O-Rings to the tops of the FI's, as I thought It was Included In the Overhaul Kit. I mean, Mazda Includes the Diffuser O-Rings so you'd think the other ones for the FI's should be there too.

Yeah, the CAS O-Ring checked out okay. I'm pretty upset to have found the Inner Coolant Seals to have been cracked (all of them).

Dale, I had a look In the cool room (automotive storage facility) and I have a baggie containing all the dissasembled parts to the s4 TII Rails (going AN). Their Is an O-Ring for the stock Rails. It's found at the FPR, fwiw.
