What is the market value for our cars?

I am curious as to what we could get for a nicely built 20B FD? Where would we sell our cars? Europe?

The only benchmarks I have (and have saved for insurance purposes) are the two Pettit Banzai 3 rotors that sold over the last year. One went for $54,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction and one just sold about a month ago for $79,000. The $79,000 one had 24,000 original miles on the car. Both were twin turbos.

My argument to the insurance company will be I started with the Pettit Banzai and then improved on it by going single (and basically replacing everything Pettit touched).

Very, very smart idea!! I wish an accident-free future for that car of yours.

You bought a Pettit Banzai 20B FD? Or you built your FD to similar specs but improved on it by going single turbo?

If the later, i think your going to have a hard time getting that past your insurance company, unless you get your car appraised then take that appraisal to your insurance company and say you want $50k+ if your car is ever totalled.

Thats sort of like me buying an old used viper throwing a TT kit on it and saying its worth as much as a hennessey Viper. Am i wrong? maybe.

Yes, I've spoken with the insurance company. Without going into too much detail as there is a thread on the topic of insurance for RX7s, there are two types of policies, stated value versus agreed on value. The better of the two is agreed on value as you negiotiate upfront with the insurance company and they are then bound to this amount in the event of a claim. A stated value policy (the one I have) allows you to specify any amount for insurance but you then have to prove the value of the car in the event of a loss. I've have tried everyway possible to get agreed value on the 20B but it's just not possible (it is if you have a 13B). The value of the 20B vastly exceeds anything an insurance company will underwrite as agreed value.

So, I am left with a policy with Progressive with a very high stated value. I have spent much time on the phone with Progressive going over what I have done to the car and I have on record my receipts and pictures. Once I get the car back from Gotham, I'm making an appointment with my local Progressive center so they can see the car and go thru my records so everything will be in order in the event of a loss.

And yest, the car is a "true" Pettit Banzai, only now vastly improved. Read my trials and tribulations of the 20B build under my thread. Search for my name.

Finally, the $79,000 price comes directly from Cam Worth at Pettit via an email to me. I've saved the email for my records.
