Tranny update.
I am aware of this and had a local shop set it up. I brought a peiced together 13b (old housings and a eshaft I had laying arround), bellhousing , and adapter plate. The centered the adapter plate to the e shaft and machined off .25" of the face of the bellhousing for the proper depth.
I glad I to a gamble and went for it on my own . I put on 200 miles yesterday. Now I am sure it shifts the same if not better then the FD one. I was able to start playing and tunning at 18psi. 3rd gear goes by like nothing and trying to datalog 4th is stupid on public roads. Time to schedule a tuning session on a dyno.
Hi , couple questions .. Who and where did you buy the adapter plate from , is that T56 the same as the Borg Warner , Mustang / Viper unit and do you have pics of the actual mounting points for your custom tranny mount ? I'd like to see where and how its actually welded to the car,
This is what I was told by someone at Grannie's "The T-56 behind a rotary is going to sit higher than if it were sitting behind a V8. Our parts could probably be used, but some adjustment such as shimming the trans mount up to maintain geometry would be recommended. Driveline length may vary as well, but that is no problem " , did U have any such issues to deal with ?
Excellent work figuring out the clutch and hydraulics. Are you still happy with the way the clutch feels and the way that the trans shifts? Some describe the t56 shift feel as "truck-like." What are your thoughts?
I've had alot of PM's lately on the conversion.
I am very happy with the tranny so far. Tranny is shifing great and smooth. I've shifted it at 8500+ a few times but I usually shift 8000-8200. You need to remeber the GTO has the tripple & double synchros. The common Camaro T56 only has singles. I've only put on about 2k miles sense the conversion, so I can't say how long the syncros will last to be honest. The bonus is rebuild parts are easy to get ahold of when the time comes. I didn't go with a full built trans righ off the get go. I wanted to make sure it will work and not take a hit on selling a high dollar tranny for a loss.

As for the mount I based mine from granny's , so I don't have exact mesurements of theirs to compare, I just made sure the driveshaft angles were decent.
I'll try to answer any questions you might have. Responces may be slow becuse i will be traveling alot the next 4-5 months for a project in Wyoming.

Ok, continued to do research on this, following IronMdnX's posts, hopefully when he can, he can confirm this adapter.
Mcleod T-56 adapter plate, they have 5 different ones:
numbers are from Mcleod's site: http://www.mcleodind.com/application...L_HOUSING.html
8-200-00 T56 ADAPT. PLT NO COLLAR, NO TRANS PATTERNS
8-204 FRONT PLATE ASSY FOR FORD T56 CONVERSION W/COLLAR
8-207 FRONT PLATE ASSY FOR GM LS T56 CONVERSION
8-204-01 T56 ADAPT. PLT NO COLLAR, FORD TRANS PATT.6.5 BELL.
8-207-01 T56 ADAPT. PLT NO COLLAR GM TRANS PATT. 6.5"BELLHSG
8-207 is available from summit racing:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...7&autoview=sku
Jegs seems to have all:
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...od+adapter+T56
You will still have to drill and tap the holes for the rotary bellhousing.
Like I said, I hope IronMdnX can let me know if I've found what he has...

I see the thread has been reborn. I am currently working out in Wyoming fir a few months.
I never dyno'd the car. Anything above 15 psi I had issues, which should be 600+ RWHP. The car is currently is parked for the MN winter. When I get back I will be trying E85. I just ordered 3 2200cc injectors for the secondaries and put the 1680 in the primary spots, then addind a 3rd intank fuel pump. Then maybe a different turbo.
I used the 8-207 adapter from MCleod. you can get the 8-207-01 because you don't need the collar. It is replced by the Tilton T/O assembly.

I used the 04+ GTO tranny because of the better syncros and the shifter ends up in the same place as the stock trannny(unless you have moved the motor back).
The viper has a stronger output shaft. There are kits to install them into the other models. G-force and other shops also sell upgraded output shafts also.

I wonder how well this will work in an Fc..I am looking at 600 rwhp and I dont want to keep going through trannies. i wonder how to get around the speedo sender in the fc tranny? its a cable.....
