stock 20b UIM modification

rather than e-mailing people individually, i'll just post it here.

stock 20B UIM is a chambered & restrictive manifold. Once we cut the 20b upper intake manifold in half, there was about 1/4" thick plate dividing the entire UIM, bunch of ridges/troughs that will cause turbulence, sharp edges leading to the runners, etc. I wish I took a photo of this, but they are all gone now. The shop got rid of this chamber plate inside of the UIM plenum, and now, they are porting out the runners and tig-welding the manifold back together soon. End product is high flowing 20b UIM with much bigger plenum size. With the xcessive LIM, this should flow as well as some 5k+ custom manifolds I've seen. I'm sure it'll make more top end, and I'll report on the lower end once I fire it up again.

That modification is quite old but useful information none the less. For those that are looking in the 20B as a power plant and ideas for more power.
Its refereed to gutting the upper plenum...

picture looking at the inside of the modified stock 20b upper intake manifold. I'm planning on using the 90mm throttle body with this manifold. after simple milling of the mating surface, it'll be good to go.

I've considered something similar but reverse the manifolds direction toward the abs pump and hang it over the down pipe instead of the motor with a throttle body facing the front of the car. Then use an intercooler that allows intake piping all on the passenger side of the car. from the turbo on the lower side passenger side of the intercooler and the cool side on the upper passenger side of the intercooler feeding back into it. similar to this but curved a little more and bolts up to a factory lower manifold, peripheral ports, semi pp or whatever your favorite is
