Spark plugs damaged

Spark plugs damaged

Has anyone seen plugs like this before? Any ideas what caused it?

Plug are NGK BUR7EQ's I think, around 5 months old.

Sorry, but those are not NGK BUR7EQ's.

1st gen plugs or are they from before that?

A broken insulator is a classic sign of detonation.

Detonation. My 7 plugs do not look like that.

They look like BUR6EQ's or BUR8EQ's.
On top of the broken insulation, it's burning a lot of oil...

Ted, those are BR8EQ-14 1st gen style plugs.

Rotary20B, you probably shouldn't use BR8EQ-14 in your 20B. They're fine for a 1st gen with stock ignition, but that's about it. Switch to BUR8EQ or BUR9EQ. I'd have to recommend against BUR7EQ due to the detonation.

now, the stock '76 Cosmo plugs were BR7ET and only had three ground electrodes.
