Tell the people its a rare "series-II" version
The Cosmo comes from Japan in Japanese registration format. It is modified by a licensed "compliance" company to meet Australian registration requirements.
So cool to be able to drive the "real thing" here in Australia.............

I am involved in a war of words with the NZ authorities over getting compliance here, and would love some more input.

New front seatbelts and new rectractable seatbelts to replace the stock rear lap belts, child restraint anchorages and fittings, unleaded fuel filler neck, flat drivers side mirror, new cat convertors and DOT approved tires. There's probably a bunch of other minor stuff as well but those are the main things the engineer was worried about.

Gary, I would say you may be **** out of luck getting your car registered since it is pre '96. If you fit a roll cage, chnage some panels to fibreglass or something and then you may be able to register it as a low volume new car, just like the hot rodders do. But, that loop hole may be closed now
