Yep, that's exactly what they are, resovoirs for the brake and clutch. The wrapping would actually be to insulate it from the heat though, not to warm it up (it IS pretty much right next to the turbo).

The only big question for me is turbo manifold fabrication and intake fabrication. I plan on doing something crazy with the radiator (curved anyone?) and a new think on the IC system and layout. :-) Maybe we should move our discussions to PM or email, LOL.

Hey Michel, we should talk about this this weekend. If you remember at Pettit me talking about the intercooler setup I want, well maybe after I move we can work on this together. I'm pretty sure we're after the same thing.

Definitely. I have a pretty good start on things. Will be a very fun project! I think that the combined efforts of several enthusiastic people will move this project along quicky. On another note, is Cam planning on coming to the SW Florida Rotorfest 2002 next weekend? www.mrccfl.com -shameless plug!

I'd have to look at the pic again, but more than likely, they're using a dual master cylinder setup which necessitates the extra resovoir. Not sure what the third is for but it could just be "storage" for additional brake fluid. They'd have to be some mondo pistons to use three resovoirs though :-)

*slaps head* Ah what's wrong with me!? I forgot to call him. He never emailed you back? I doubt very seriously he'd come on such short notice now. Call him up and tell him I said to get over there (I'll be busy tomorrow so may not be able to).

Well the RE car I'm looking at has 2 resoviors. I would assume one would be for the clutch, and the other for the brakes. There is another small resovior, which as Michel said, is probably just a back up. It appears as though all power assist is gone. I think most race parts stores sell these setups, such as Pegasus. I don't think it would take much work at all to set one up and get it going. (did that help at all? I'm thinking no, hehe)

I imagine I'm quite a way off from a 3-rotor setup, so any secret ideas wouldnt do me any good, but I'm always willing to help where possible.

Ha, you don't have to worry about that with me. If I ever did go 20B, I'd go with the Banzai anyway. The amount of engineering that goes into those cars is just incredible. I do like helping others with projects though.

to show how far the intake manifold is from the firewall.

OK was just thinking do any of you really like the stock hood I dont, so why dont we move the engine back 4 5 more inches make a custom intake, plus we raise the engine a couple of inches then build a have a custom hood fabbed to your liking. Why cant we just do that sounds like a good idea to me. Plus when the car is lowered in the frontit will not be that hight any way...

or no let me know.

Pettit's done custom intakes for the two rotor so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for the three rotor. Moving the engine back is doable as well. Moving it up, however, would not be a wise move in terms of vehicle dynamics plus it would negate the reason for creating a custom intake manifold in the first place; to lower it's height so it will clear the firewall without cutting.

FYI anyone thinking of getting the G-Force trannie for their 20B project or 13B RX-7 talk to Mike at G-Force. He already has done the FD trannie and also has a FD with a 20B he is about to swap in. Great guy and loves the rotaries.

Do you know which G-Force box they were using? Their drag stuff doesn't down shift at speed which sort of ruled them out. I heard they had a road race box but I didn't see it in their catalog.

Yes they have a road race 5 speed dog box that has been custom made for the FD RX-7. Give Mike a call and he can help you. This box does not have synchros, however he may be able to custom make one with synchros? Not sure on that.

Brett.

I'd actually prefer it without synchros ala true dog box. I'm looking for a six speed sequential though. Hewland has two versions but I think the higher torque version is going to be out of the question unless I win the lottery.

Ditto. I had one (Link) on another car and it was crap. Flyin' Miata uses a Link I believe and they seem to work well on turbo conversions, but there's other, more advanced stuff out there for about the same dough.
