Well, the engine is not as far back as it will go there is about 5 inches between the firewall and the back of the manifold. The oil pan sits right on top of the steering rack so that the steering rack is between the front and rear portions of the oil pan. The transmission is mounted in the stock location with no modifications necessary. I did have to remove the sway bar cause it hit the oil pan. As for the hood I had to cut some of the suuport members as pictured before but other than that it fits fine.

The intercooler was moved to the front of the car and the front brace had to be removed. I'll try and post some pictures but its really annoying to try and post them on this site. It takes forever and sometimes doesn't work.

yep thats an auto tranny. I put it in because thats what was originally in the car and it already has the mounts for it. I dont have the 5 speed mounts. So, I put it in so I could get all of the other stuff on the car. I was planning on breaking in the engine with it too. But well see. I'm trying to get my hands on an RX8 6 Speed to put in there.

Does Guru have a writeup on what he is going to do as well as the effects it will have on the tranny.

Thanks,

so that the stock rx7 auto?
if so it will not last long.
everyone says that the rx8 6 speed will not stand up
to the torque of the turbos.

Well, I really want a 6 speed that will hold up. Which one would you guys suggest I get.

Also, the auto tranny is just to break in the 3 rotor at most. It is only installed right now cause I dont have the 5 speed mounts on the body. I'm trying to wait and see if I get a 6 speed so I only have to make one set of custom tranny mounts.

The RX-8 six speed is indeed weaker. They fit an extra gear into an even smaller area, so the gear sizes have been reduced which in turn compromised strength. Guru is developing one and Acosta is/was going to be putting the 6-speed dog conversion in the 20b RX-8. That is what I was told by both at sevenstck. However, I just contacted Guru after my last post here for an update and they told me not to hold my breath as they now beleive the 6-speed dog conversion probably wouldn't handle the power of a single turbo 20b (contrary to what they told me at sevenstock). I don't know what this means to that RX-8 and I didn't ask then but would like to find out somehow. Who knows of an rx-8(?) forum where that owner may post on?

I think Kurgan is or was planning on running an electric wter pump. He at least did a bunch of looking into it.

I just received an e-mail from Acosta (very prompt response) and he told me they are in the 'testing' phase with the Guru RX-8 6-speed tranny. Their RX-8 currently has an fd (5-speed obviuously) case with guru guts. He said depending on how testing goes, however they are doing that, they will be offering the conversions for sale as will Guru I'm sure.

Expect to spend well over $6000 for one.

Ok, Well I can't afford that. Looks like I need to find another strong 6 speed. I think I'm going to get a T56 and make it fit somehow.

Thanks,
