lol, kind of... I had to upgrade my Haltech E6X to an E11v2. I made a header, relocated my radiator/oil cooler and re-did my ignition coil setup... but yeah I dropped it in and fired it up
I am still working out the kinks, but for the most part it runs

I have been trying to tune it... but ran into some Haltech ignition problems. In the video it sounds ok because I cheated and increased the timing @ the 2500rpm range(where the stumble was) to compensate for the 30 degrees retard in timing.

I have been working on the fix, and am really really really close to having it completeltly fixed.

Once fixed and tuned I will throw it on the dyno... I am going to say bcool is right and say around 200-225ish

so I call the number and an old man answers, says he has a 20b long block and a few 17b parts motors laying around in pieces(i didnt bother correcting the old man on the 17b stuff). I asked how much, and he replys 1000 for the 20b and 200 for the rest of the 17b stuff. So of course i get his info and told him it was sold and I will be there tomorrow to pick it up

I pack a few clothes and drove to Los Angeles the next morning in my 02 Jetta. Once in LA I borrow my brothers Toyota P/U and drive out to Riverside. Turns out he has a complete long block 20b and a bunch of 13b N/A parts laying around. I give the old man 1200 bucks and take everything... he even wanted me to take the work benches and engine stand lol

Once back in Venice, I go to my buddies shop where i break the long block down into a short block and shove it in the trunk of my Jetta . I gave most of the other 13b (not 17b) parts away to my friends

I spend the night at my sisters and the next morning I'm back on I5 headed north

The motor sat for a few years and and then sat again at my place for a few months...I had no idea if it would start let alone smoke like a chimney.

After selling off all my old stuff in order to by new stuff, I finally got it running

I have to thank The Wankler for the use of his cherry picker..Thanks Chris, I owe you

anyhow; long story short... here is a short vid... sorry for the crappy quality

here is a picture of a small amount of the crap that came with it

and here it is in the car... still need to finish up some details... but it runs

1000??! bah i hate you (but im really just jealous). where in the bay area are you? im in oakland. im getting ready to drop my 20b in also, but its been a long road and theres still way more to go. what are you doing for smog? BTW id love to see it sometime. i think that would be the kick in the pants i need to get off my *** and actually make some progress. -heath

While everyone is hating him for getting a 20B for 1000.

Here is a story:

About 1998-1999 I picked up a parts trader and saw an add for 6 (thats right six) used 20B longblocks.

An RV store was selling them.

Now here is the real kicker

695 dollars each.

I had 0 money at that time, but I did call at the time I just barley knew what a 20B was.

The story they gave me was that they had to get rid of them, could not offer a receipt (and no warranty obviously), and couldn't say why those where the conditions, and they would only take cash.

Maybe something went wrong with the import paperwork?

Congrats. I can't wait to see and hear it running! At Laguna Seca this weekend, there were a few N/A 3-rotor RX-8s running, and they were definitely the best sounding cars on the track. Just screaming like Banshees.

One of 'em went from Pole to 1st place, BTW.

Thanks guys... I haven't spent much time on the car lately. I am still having some ignition break up issues around 3500-4k.

I can adjust the gains and filters on the E11v2... the breakup will go away and the engine will start and run when warm... but it will not start when it is cold, unless I put the filters and gains back to where I get ignition break up ... I am begining to think that the LSx coils are not up to the task

I also have to get a new radiator and put the air ducting back in before it is truly road worthy.
