Joining the Ranks ... Finally
Parts are being ordered today. some of them have been on the shelf too long, others will be brand new. Opinions are always appreciated. I think the GT35 is going to be small for my goals so I am keeping that open for a T6 turbo of some as yet undetermined trim. I am still hoping to find a good balance between spool and power. The goal is a 725-750 tune but I'll maintain 600 or so on the street, since this will just be a shop car that way I have somewhat of a margin for error and I won't be on the bleeding edge all the time.

I'm interested to see what you think of the Vi-pec. As far as I know, you'll be the first.
Also, you should definitely go with the twin -044 setup instead of the Walbro setup.
List looks pretty good, but I'd up your "Misc. Stuff I'm forgetting to list" line item by about an order of magnitude.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks Calculon. I'm a Vi-Pec distributor and tuner, so I figured I could use it on my build and maybe if I'm lucky get to start a thread someday. Plus I'm really curious to see how the auto tuning software stacks up on with a 20B built to hunt 700HP ( not that I would ever push it that far with an auto tune ). Yea the stuff I'm forgetting list isn't actually that long I've got stuff sitting around the shop in boxes that I just didn't list. Radiator hoses, grounding kit Axels , FPR is an Aeromotive -Pro-series Boost Reference regulator , ect ect that have come off of previously overbuilt engines that I got tired of and sold or parted, or gave to my brother.....
(Huge mistake with that one).
I was told earlier today that the Walbro's were prone to failure.. I have never heard that before, but I think I'll opt for 2 Nippon Denso's or a Aeromotive Pro-series internal and a single Denso. That should provide more than enough fuel since the Pro series is rated to 1700HP forced induction , and I can stage them through the V88 to push more fuel under boost. the more I think about the turbo the more I want to go with a T6, i just think boost would come on stronger and slightly earlier with high RPM advantages I don't think I would see from a T4. I am still however seriously concerned about the transmission. I know Howard was working on an adapter plate for the t56 and I like what I'm seeing from the magnum Trans, but with not adapter I can't run it and I do not feel like grenading transmissions. I had enough of that with my old VR4. Well long story short you are all more experienced with the 20B I've only put one in a FC while you have been driving them for years. Anything I should look out for. I may own a shop, but I'm not afraid to ask for advice.

well Im already going to drop at least 16k so in theory another 2 or 3k on a turbo doesnt mean much, but since i am cheap i would like to top out around 2400. I did take a look at that GReddy turbo used on the super 7, but its close to 4K.
I will most likely test fire the engine once O get it assembled outside the chassis . I am also looking for a roller to do a n/a with for the little lady so... it is pretty decent being able to get 20b's relatively cheap. granted they are cheaper the more get....

Your going to need a drive-train overhaul no?
Also ,- 15k sounds a little cheap for such a big build <.<
Not doubting though ,- just interested.

Although the walbro's don't perform as good as the 044 ,- the noise from the bosch unit's is kinda annoying ;D Although ,- with your setup i doubt you'll be feeling anything but orgasm in your ears.
-
If your only looking for 6-700hp ,- Could the 42R work with pre-turbo water-injection?

yes, i own a super small shop, and mostly cater to peolpe that know how to find me. So i dont have to pay full prices. I also import engines from time to time so i'm paying 4k for the 20B. So basically, free labor and wholesle prices from my distributors has shaved alot off the total cost
allrotor: cj motorsports makes a twin 044 setup.
slevin: what's the most boost you're looking to run? Initially, based on pricing and stated goals, I'd say that you're looking at a T6 Gt4202R or the BW equivalent (someone more well-versed in the BW lineup would need to chime in), if you're not afraid to run a little bit of boost.

Ideally I don't want to exceed 1.5 bar, but I will probably try to tune it to 25 then back down so I'm not always cruising with a time bomb on my hands. Unless I'm at a drag strip.
Overall I would like to hit boost somewhere before 4 - 4.2K RPM when I'm driving on the street. Mid 3's would be great though. What a/r do you recommend I was thinking 1.01

Ok 5 in DP from a BW S480 1.32 A/R reduced to 4in Boost activated exhaust cutout Then Borla XR1 race mufler 4in in / out then another XR1 out the rear with a slight turn down giving that dolphin tail look. Or something similar. I'll be going with a V-mount and the AD9 style hood from JKL to keep under hood temps down. and I've been talking to Rotor-Works about getting a R154 adapter plate for the transmission that way I don't have to worry about the mazda box grenading on me all the time. I may or may not have to fab up a shifter extention. I'll know for sure once I start construction. Otherwise things are going good I've just been busy with family and work. I'm swapping a 2JZ into a MK3 supra.....again....... and trying to get the website finished as well. in addition to tracking down some connectors for for a wiring harness I'm doing. If anyone has an extra one laying around or a cut one let me know.
