yeah I have the magazine with the 3rotor na on the dyno doing 470.
Like you siad I dont think you would drive a PP around every day.

300hp on NA sounds just fine to me.

If I am not mistaken torque numbers usually increase to match HP numbers with a 3 rotor. I'd love to see what a rotary with 300 ft lb of torque felt like.

Yes, the hp/torque curve of the stock 20B-REW is fairly flat. It's really more of the engine maintaining torque, though, because torque is a measured value, while hp is computed with the equation hp = (rpm * tq)/5252. Therefore, on a dyno chart given in bhp and ft-lbs torque, the hp and torque curves will always meet at 5252 rpm, and will converge prior to this point, and diverge after this point. You can see by the equation that the rpm at which torque is produced directly affects the hp curve, and therefore the convergence and divergence rate of the hp/torque curve.

Yep! I cropped it from the cover of the Aces High single. It's the best avatar that I could think of for Evil Aviator. I also made an avatar from the Flight of Icarus single, and I'm keeping it in reserve in case I ever feel like swapping out.

Yes, I am a huge Iron Maiden fan, and I have all of their albums (except the original 50-copy Soundhouse demo tapes), as well as nearly all their singles, a bunch of picture disks, special import albums, posters, etc.

Everyone says hp is torque x rpms. If you just took the torque numbers and multiplied them by rpm you would get a really big number. What is the math in that? (Hope is itsn't too complicated)

What kind of music is Iron Maiden?

Yeah, I'm glad I'm really young, unlike all those old farts on this forum.

Hehehe, I guess you missed it in my other post on this page. Yes, hp is basically torque * rpms, but then you need to add a unit conversion factor. Here is the formula for SAE horsepower where torque is in ft-lbs:

hp = (rpm * torque)/5252

It' heavy metal, but more on the heavier Judas Priest end of the scale as opposed to glam band metal like Poison. Here is a link to the track that goes with my avatar:

I made 352 ft lbs of torque on the dyno. It feels great!!

I saw Maiden back in 86'. I don't remember the name of the tour. It was the album with "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" on it.

I am still waiting for the car industry to figure out a way to capitalize on the Heavy Metal influences of my generation to sell cars to my generation.

Can you imagine Bruce Dickenson screeching about the devil taking a ride in his cute, new Toyota MR2 drop top. Just call the number of the beast for details.

I remember Toyota ads in recent memory that were playing old Metallica - iirc it was the first riff from "Motorbreath". I was shocked and appalled.

Okay, I'm really bringing this one back from the dead, but personally I think a large street port or small bridged N/A 20B carb'd with high compression rotors would kick all kinds of *** and be really reliable.

How much would a carb setup cost for the 20B? I'll bet a lot cheaper than a haltech. And a custom header can't be WAY out of this world pricewise.. I'm sure Mazdatrix has a template that they could make one out of.

thoughts anyone? I think this is a killer idea for a track/autocross FC!

you i think would want a 3 barrel ida weber and that right there is gonna be more than a haltech, not to mention buyinh 2 13b intakes and cutting them to make a 20b one.
i do think that an na 20b would be a really nice driver

Wicked idea mate.

With the ports being so huge on a 20B it would be ideal to bridgeport one of these engines.
I dont see why (with high comp. N/A rotors) you can't see 370-400 reliable HP outta one of these.
I am importing 6-port 13B engines down to NZ @ about $200 ea. We are pulling the rotors out for aeronautical engines (as they are way to expensive to manufacture) and have a steady supply of them(50 engines per container).
As for carburation... my mum has a juicy pair of Solex triple throat IDA type carbs on her 73 Porsche 911 - from memory hers are 48mm too.

I would love this kinda engine in my 616 but have to make due with 270 hp 13B BP for now

There are plenty of reasons to go the N/A route... just because they came out twin turbo doesnt means the engines not a killa on its own.
